Job objectives and responsibilities

  • Effectively assist the ZOM in managing the performance of a designated zone, ensuring that all contracted and temporary hours are fulfilled by trained officers to the complete satisfaction of those depots/clients.
  • Deputise for the ZOM during times of absence and take responsibility for the operational and financial performance of the allocated business in relation to overall targets set, ensuring compliance with key SLA’s/KPI’s.
  • Maximise the efficiency and sustainability of the contract through the convergence of people, systems and technology to deliver intelligence led services based upon risk and data analysis
  • In conjunction with the Training & Development team, contribute to the success of the Sainsbury’s contract through supporting the delivery of effective training and on-going support to all colleagues across the zone.

Main duties

To deliver results for their identified area that meets or exceeds the budget and service delivery requirements through full responsibility and accountability for:

  • Delegate and co-ordinate the workload within the business in the absence of the ZOM, liaising with all key stakeholders to ensure targets are achieved within the correct timescales
  • Liaise with the HR management team to ensure all issues with regards to grievance and discipline are dealt with in accordance to company policy
  • Ensure all performance indicators are reviewed and completed by all depot security managers; ensuring operational standards are constantly maintained and improved
  • Be able to project manage and implement new business initiatives as instructed by key stakeholders and actively network with other working groups across the wider Mitie/Sainsbury’s business
  • Ensuring behaviours and situations that endanger the health and safety and wellbeing of colleagues, customers and fellow officers are identified and rectified in a timely manner in line with company policies
  • Reporting and investigation of incidents and identification of their causes. Ensures corrective actions are implemented and retained for audit purposes
  • Supporting Sainsbury and Mitie Live Safe/QHSE initiatives and compliance with policy and legislation
  • Advocate and promote the Mitie brand and actively participate in the success of all company strategies

To build, lead, retain and support in the development of the management team that believe and demonstrate through their work that Mitie is different to other Security service providers through:

  • Assist the ZOM in managing, leading, supporting and retaining the Depot Security Managers/TL population within the zone, ensuring their continuous development through monthly/periodic reviews and annual appraisals
  • Support the ZOM in identifying any skills gaps within the team and the delivery of subsequent upskilling and performance improvement in line with company policy and procedure
  • Actively support in the development of the Depot Security Managers /TL population by providing mentorship and sharing best working practices
  • In conjunction with the Training & Development team ensure the delivery of the Mitie company induction, initial assessment and comprehensive distribution/S.T.A.R.S. training of all newly appointed security personnel
  • Identify the need for and support in the implementation of officer personal development plans as identified by the contracts scorecard process
  • Take active steps to maintain communication and recognise achievement and develop the Mitie Community
  • Delivery of the required confidentiality of the role and across the allocated zone
