The ACT Victims of Crime Commissioner (VOCC) is seeking a senior assessor with demonstrated professional experience interpreting legislation to support decision making to work as part of the ACT Victims of Crime Financial Assistance Scheme (FAS).

The FAS Senior Assessor will assess and determine applications for victims of crime under the Victims of Crime (Financial Assistance) Act 2016, carrying an individual caseload of complex applications. The FAS Senior Assessor will also exercise discretion in decision making, framed by the relevant legislative frameworks, operating in a fast-paced environment.

Eligibility/Other Requirements:

  • Demonstrated professional experience interpreting legislation, regulations and other guideline materials to support decision making.
  • Demonstrated experience communicating with vulnerable, diverse client groups about their rights and entitlements.
  • Well-developed liaison and communication skills, including the ability to prepare and refine complex workplace documents.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills, including the ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively as part of a team, and also autonomously.
  • Excellent organisational skills, including the ability to set priorities and monitor work-flow, in the context of a high-volume of work.
