Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume):
Bachelor’s degree (foreign equivalent or higher). Three (3) years of full-time progressively responsible professional auditing experience. Experience creating/developing audit programs, evaluation of internal controls, performing audit procedures and developing/presenting audit results to management. Experience working with internal control standards and professional auditing standards. Experience working with Excel and/or Google Sheets (data analysis, sample selection, filtering, sorting, pivot tables, VLOOKUP, conditional formatting).
Preferred Qualifications:
CPA, CIA or CFE license/designation. Experience working in higher education. Experience using an ERP (e.g. PeopleSoft, Workday, Oracle, etc.). 
Brief Description of Duties:
Senior Auditor reports to the Assistant Director for Audit & Management Advisory Services. This individual performs independent and objective audits and reviews of campus operations and campus-related entities including operational, financial, regulatory compliance audits, internal control reviews, investigations, special projects, and to implement the Office of Audit and Management Advisory Services’ Annual Work Plan. Audits are conducted in accordance with International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing promulgated by the Institute of Internal Auditors. Research, analytical, and organization skills are essential for this role, as well as written and verbal communication.
Duties:

  • Project Performance:
    • Conducts the project by performing various independent tests, reviews, reconciliations, interviews and evaluations of accounts, claims, records, procedures, processes, and operations to verify the existence and effectiveness of internal controls relevant to the scope of the project and to identify improvements and/or best practices that may strengthen operations and related controls.
    • Documents audit work performed and related findings in a clear and concise manner.
    • Completes, compiles and references audit working papers in accordance with office and professional standards.
  • Project Planning:
    • Performs research on the activity to be reviewed to determine its purpose, organization, processes, funds involved, and applicable laws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures governing its operation.
    • Assists in establishing the scope of the project by analyzing and determining areas for review and the period to be examined.
    • Assists in planning audit activities, including specific tasks, and recommends project schedule.
    • Works with the Assistant Director and/or AVP to develop and modify work programs based on the annual audit plan and risk environment.
    • Participates in entrance conferences with representatives of the organization being reviewed to explain audit goals, methodology and gain access to records.
  • Reporting and Follow-up:
    • Prepares preliminary findings and comprehensive narrative draft reports which accurately and completely reflect the results of the work completed in accordance with office and professional standards.
    • Presents preliminary results to management personnel in the area audited.
    • Assists in the preparation of final reports.
    • Follows up on the status of management’s implementation of recommendations.
  • Other duties or projects as assigned as appropriate to rank and departmental mission.

Special notes:
This is a Management Confidential position. This is a full time appointment. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Minimum salary threshold must be met to maintain FLSA exemption.
