The Senior Behaviour Change Specialist role is responsible for supporting the Behaviour Change Programme Leader in driving forward this important part of TRAFFIC’s work, they will provide technical support to the mentioned projects, engage and advise TRAFFIC’s colleagues in other regions, particularly in Asia and support the development of additional activities of Behaviour Change for TRAFFIC.
Specific Duties:
- Coordinate technical aspects of projects being implemented by national TRAFFIC teams implementing social and behaviour change approaches to reduce demand for illegal wildlife products / promote safe, sustainable and legal consumption where appropriate
- Lead the design and review of materials, and provide support during the development, implementation and evaluation phases before in-country sign-off. Suggest options for template e.g., Creative Briefs and ToR for organisations developing/ pre-testing draft campaign materials and social research activities. Ensure the integrity and veracity of social research findings and liaise with the Data, Research and Enforcement Support Team to do so.
- Coordinate with Programme Office Directors and Project Managers to ensure that project activities are implemented to the required quality, on time, and within budget.
- Ensure that Behaviour Change initiatives are high-impact, cost-effective and innovative, and draw from best practice in social and behavioural sciences, providing capacity building to others.
- Produce resources, reports, newsletters and capacity building materials, and help to deliver workshop and webinar activities for the Social and Behaviour Change Community, to increase the pick-up of best practice in behavioural science across the conservation sector
- Provide broader support to TRAFFIC’s work on social and behavioural change.
Requirements:
- Masters level qualification or equivalent experience in social or behavioural science
- Several years of experience delivering behaviour change initiatives
- Proven ability to commission creative agencies, manage social research processes, understand how to apply behavioural theory in campaign design, and quality assure associated messages, key visuals and outputs
- Experience of working in Asia, with an understanding of sensitivity to cultural differences
- Proven experience with large scale, high-value, multi-year projects, ideally from Government Aid Agency donors
- Must be a strong communicator with experience spanning a diverse range of audiences and stakeholders at multiple levels.
- Must be fluent in English, with excellent written and spoken communication skills. Additional language skills an advantage.
- A strong team player who can work on own initiative and be a self-directed lateral thinker.
