Senior Biologist

We are seeking to hire one Senior Biologist who will play a key role in identifying and/or quantifying biological resources on and around cannabis farms for ongoing work and for future projects. Approximately 75% of weekly hours will be dedicated to watershed enhancement and restoration work. In this position, the Senior Biologist will be primarily responsible for identifying and/or quantifying biological resources on and around cannabis farms prior to construction activities and monitoring resources during construction and post-construction as part of the monitoring plan. This work enables our team to make data-driven decisions that best support conservation efforts and comply with regulatory standards and grant deliverables. Outside of their role in this project, the Senior Biologist will work on a variety of tasks, including bidding on and performing contractual biological services, assisting with grant applications for new projects, biological data management. analysis, and reporting, and manuscript writing..The Senior Biologist should be highly familiar with Northern CA wildlife species, including special-status and listed species such as the Northern spotted owl, and Pacific fisher. The ideal applicant is experienced in the standard field methodologies for studying both botanical and wildlife species, proficient in using online databases such as CNDDB and BIOS, and is comfortable communicating with relevant agencies. This position will take the lead on all protocol-level wildlife surveys, conduct nesting bird surveys, botanical transect surveys, and visual encounter surveys for amphibians, and is familiar with a variety of non-invasive sampling methods for mammals as well as track and sign. This position will also complete biological resource assessments (BRAs), be familiar with CEQA documentation, and Management Indicator Species reports.
