Under the supervision of an operations professional, the incumbent will lead and manage teams of support staff, delivering services and transactions as applicable in the relevant office in one or more of WHO’s specialized operational areas and sub-disciplines (such as finance, human resources, procurement, logistics, and/or information technology management).
The incumbent will perform all or part of the following, and other related responsibilities as required by the needs of the office.
• Guide and manage teams of focused specialized support staff administering the delivery of efficient and effective services and transactions
• Quality assure work products and processes, ensuring compliance with respective procedures, guidelines, and policies
• Justify and escalate or approve procedural exceptions
• Facilitate the capture and sharing of best practices and ensure continuous learning by the team
• Introduce work process improvements for team performance.
• Provide technical advice to clients, staff and partners on matters relating to core service lines by briefing and interpret respective procedures, rules, and regulations
• Support consistency in approach and compliance with respective procedures, rules, and regulations.
– Ensure that Custom Clearance at Airports and sea ports are performed in timely manner according to Rules & regulations.
– Facilitating exemption documents and getting special permission from local government bodies for imported cargo.
– Liaise with the various Ministries to ensure the most effective means of executing custom clearance of related logistics efforts.
– Assist in the logistical operation subject to any requirements of the organization.
– Maintain data base of service representatives to ensure that materials and requirements meet established standards and that applicable policies, practices and procedures are understood and followed for clearance & transportation.
– Pick-up and all related local distribution and ensure efficient and effective daily planning of the Local Transport activities, including route planning, driver allocation
– Ensure that the steps required by rules and regulations are taken in case of accident
· – Recommend areas of improvement within General Transport activities and operations
Essential: Completion of secondary education Training and certification in one or more UN operational service areas or systems.
Desirable: A university degree in business administration or a related field
Essential: A minimum of ten years of progressively responsible work experience relevant to the position (administering support services and transactions in the operational support area, including logistics).
Desirable: Experience in administrative support positions within WHO or another United Nations agency. Experience in Oracle-based systems or another enterprise resource planning system
– – Primary support for logistics and transportation administration, including warehouses, exemption documents, management of office vehicles, supervision of drivers and all related activities.
– Good knowledge of WHO systems, procedures and practices
– Team management and facilitation skills, including to brief and explain procedures to other members of staff.

Proficiency in computers and office software packages, handling of web-based management systems, enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems and Cloud Management Enterprise System such as Workday.
WHO offers staff in the General Services category an attractive remuneration package, which for the above position includes an annual net base salary starting at USD 25,130 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance, as applicable) and 30 days of annual leave.
