The Office of the Work Health and Safety Commissioner, operationally known as WorkSafe ACT, is a fully independent office headed by the WHS Commissioner, who is the Territory’s regulator. A planned program of work is currently being implemented to improve our operational efficiency and effectiveness. WorkSafe ACT is committed to cultural and organisational change to become a professional, modern, intelligence-led and responsive regulator.
We have an exciting permanent vacancy for a suitably skilled professional to fill the role of a Senior Capability Officer within the Corporate, Capability and People Branch. The Branch delivers a suite of corporate support services to WorkSafe ACT. The Capability Team is responsible for facilitating and delivering appropriate training activities to WorkSafe ACT, based on the agency’s strategic training priorities. This includes undertaking research and analysis activities to develop information sessions and continuation of facilitating training opportunities.
In this role you will be primarily responsible for organising and delivering training programs to the agency and developing a governance system to support this activity. The position will liaise with Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) and other jurisdictions to ensure the capability and skills of WorkSafe ACT’s staff are appropriately maintained. The Senior Capability Officer will also evaluate the effectiveness of training programs and update a training register to track attendance at training events.

Eligibility/Other requirements:
- Qualifications or experience in WHS are desirable and a Certificate III or IV in WHS would be highly regarded.
- A TAE40116 – Certificate IV in Training and Assessment is desirable.
Notes:
A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and may be used to fill substantially identical vacancies over the next 12 months. Selection may be based on referee reports and written application only. This position will be in a workplace designed for activity-based working (ABW). Under ABW arrangements, officers do not have a designated workstation/desk.
