Community Coordinator
Job Description
The Senior Catalyzer position is designed for a staff member who wants a greater leadership challenge and a career in Residential Life. The Senior Catalyzer will supervise the Catalysts (graduate or student staff) and promote innovation and entrepreneurship within the apartment community. The Senior Catalyzer will guide Catalysts in project development, wellness seminars and innovation workshops. Catalysts will mentor students in key areas of concentration, such as: innovation, wellness, arts/performance, global village, health/wellness, social embeddedness and media/communications. Catalysts will support residents in putting innovation into action through focused workshops, wellness seminars and project development. The Senior Catalyzer will work alongside Faculty-in-Residence to promote innovation and entrepreneurship to the greater ASU community and Phoenix community. The Senior Catalyzer will collaborate with various offices at the Arizona State University, such as: Residential Life, J. Orin Edson Entrepreneurship + Innovation Institute, Herberger Institute of Design and the Arts, departments within Educational Outreach and Student Services as well as various colleges at the Downtown Phoenix campus.
The Senior Catalyzer will have a joint appointment with the Dean of Students Office supporting residential students as well as campus programming. Additionally, Senior Catalyzer will support university wide programming. During a typical work week, the Senior Catalyzer will have flexible hours with some necessarily occurring during regular business hours for the purpose of attending staff meetings and managing day-to-day functions of a residential community. A critical emphasis of this position is on being a highly visible and strong presence in the apartment community. Residential Life values our staff members spending the bulk of their work week with students, actively building relationships and assisting them in their transition and success in higher education.
The position, due to its live-in nature, requires a willingness to be called into service at any time of the day or night in order to meet students’ needs as they arise. This position may encounter high stress/anxiety situations such as emergencies, health concerns, emotional difficulties, etc. Therefore, a high level of maturity, sound judgment, and emotional stability are required to respond responsibly. The Senior Catalyzer will serve in an on-call duty rotation including weekdays, weekends, break periods, and University approved holidays or closures.

Essential Duties
The Senior Catalyzer for ASU’s Residential Life provides leadership and management to a residential community and the student and professional staff working in the community. This position is responsible for providing a high level of customer service and creating a meaningful community which fosters academic excellence and personal growth for its residents. The Senior Catalyzer is visible and involved in the residential community. The Senior Catalyzer partners with a diverse group of staff, students, and faculty and collaborates with various departments and programs, both internally with ASU and externally to develop and implement appropriate programming and opportunities. The collaboration with academic partners to create an intentional Residential College experience should involve a strong integration of hall staff and college partners.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment AND (2) years of experience leading groups; OR, Master’s degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment AND six (6) months related supervisory experience OR, Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
