- Base Salary, HEO9 $135,820 – $143,310 p.a. (pro-rata) + 17% superannuation
About the opportunity
The School of Psychology are welcoming applications for a Senior Clinical Psychologist to lead the clinical service offerings for the GambleAware services across Sydney Central, Western Sydney and Blue Mountains, and South West Sydney as part of Australia’s only university-based gambling treatment clinic.
The role is to lead and manage an experienced team of clinicians, including clinical psychologists, financial counsellors, community engagement officers, and intake officers in addition to overseeing clinical interns, and working with the Director and Clinic Manager to oversee the Gambling Treatment and Research Clinic (GTRC) treatment services and professional development.
Working closely with the Clinic Director Professor Sally Gainsbury and Clinic Manager, the successful candidate will be required to oversee provision of clinical services, clinical supervision, training, and clinical governance oversight within the GTRC, as well as providing leadership to other clinicians.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with a multidisciplinary team of researchers conducting clinically-oriented research evaluating practice outcomes and developing innovative clinical offerings including educational modules and digital stepped care interventions to prevent and reduce gambling harms.
Gambling treatment experience is not essential and there is no travel required for this role. We would consider Part-Time for the right candidate and flexible work arrangements including work-from-home options will be available.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
- supervise clinicians, including clinical intern students, in line with good clinical practice and ongoing professional development
- work as part of the leadership team with the Director and Clinic Manager to oversee the strategic direction, delivery of services, and contribute to reporting requirements
- work with a degree of autonomy in promoting the objectives and activities of the GTRC in the areas of clinical assessment, interventions, and protocols
- provide clinical advice where required to GTRC colleagues and interns
- contribute to professional development and training
- contribute to community engagement plans and provide oversight, support and guidance to the Community Engagement team.
About you

- registration as a psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
- endorsements as a clinical psychologist with AHPRA
- certifications as a Psychology Board Approved Supervisor with the Psychology Board of Australia
- demonstrated experience in the supervision, training, mentoring and performance management of clinical psychology interns and staff
- experience in the provision of CBT
- superior knowledge of clinical practices, including an understanding of Good Clinical Practice guidelines, and an ability to apply quality control procedures
- excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with sound negotiating and conflict resolution skills and a demonstrated level of tact and discretion in dealing with day-to-day operational matters
- leadership experience and demonstrated astute judgement and a capacity to make high level decisions and recommendations where diverse interests are present research.
