Your new team
Orygen Specialist Program (OSP), a program of the Royal Melbourne Hospital, provides specialist mental health services for young people aged 12 to 25 and focuses on providing early intervention to young people with severe and complex mental illness.
Your New Role
This Senior Clinician role forms part of the Community Forensic Youth Mental Health Service (FYMHS) and is a wonderful opportunity to develop your skills and knowledge, particularly around the court system and Youth Forensic Mental Health. In this role, you will:
- Provide mental health assessments and/or secondary consultation for young people appearing before either the Criminal or Family (Secure Welfare or IVO only) Divisions of the Children’s Court of Victoria
- Provide assessment of fitness to appear before the court
- Provide high level consultation, leadership and advice on complex clinical matters and is expected to have advanced knowledge of and experience regarding the youth forensic and mental health sector
- Work as part of a supportive multidisciplinary Community FYMHS team
About You
- Relevant registration and qualifications (see position description for details).
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in the application of clinical practice in the mental health field and in particular, with young people experiencing mental health disorders. Experience in tertiary mental health is preferred.
- An advanced level of skill in clinical mental health assessment (including risk), diagnostic formulation and treatment interventions for young people presenting with both forensic issues and mental health disorders.
- A thorough understanding of the current mental health sector and service provision options available for this vulnerable and complex cohort.
- Strong and well developed consultation, leadership and advocacy skills.
