Position Title: Senior Community Organizer – Fundraising

Reports to: Manager of Grassroots Strategy

Location: Boston, MA preferred, remote possible (5% domestic travel)

Employment Type: Full-time

 

Position Overview:

The primary vehicle for Partners In Health’s (PIH) movement-building work is PIH Engage, a network of volunteer community organizers across the United States, Mexico, and Peru. The Senior Community Organizer – Fundraising Lead will help form a small team committed to building a movement for the right to health through PIH Engage’s advocacy, fundraising, and community building campaigns in the United States. They will be primarily responsible for coaching and training existing PIH Engage teams, recruiting new teams, and organizing the annual PIH Engage grassroots fundraising campaign.

 

Responsibilities:

Community organizing (50%)

  • Co-lead the PIH Engage network leadership team of volunteers and develop network leadership skills, including through the organization and facilitation of trainings and meetings;
  • Lead the onboarding of new PIH Engage teams and support the growth and development of new teams throughout the campaign year;
  • Lead the planning and organizing or the annual PIH Engage Training Institute, including management of interns, logistics, content, participation, etc.;
  • Coach the volunteer leaders of PIH Engage teams across the U.S.;
  • Strengthen PIH Engage’s community-building campaign structure, including through collecting and analyzing feedback from volunteers.

 

Fundraising (50%)

  • Lead PIH Engage teams and coaches to generate new levels of resources and broaden our base of donors to support the mission of PIH;
  • Lead PIH Engage’s annual fundraising campaign, including through communication with PIH Engage teams and care delivery sites, and data management for ongoing tracking of progress against targets;
  • Evaluate, design, and improve PIH Engage’s fundraising campaign structure by collecting and analyzing feedback from volunteers and aligning it with PIH’s organizational priorities;
  • Collaborate with other teams within PIH to develop fundraising campaign priorities and generate campaign materials;
  • Develop training materials, presentations, and work plans to increase the knowledge base and capacity for PIH Engage teams.

 

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience leading community organizing, movement building, or large-scale volunteer mobilization programs;
  • Experience delivering training and coaching to varying group sizes (one-on-one, small groups, 100+ people);
  • Ability to effectively lead others toward shared purpose in a complex, fast-paced environment;
  • Experience running grassroots campaigns, including peer-to-peer fundraising campaigns;
  • Exemplary interpersonal skills; ability to collaborate effectively with culturally diverse staff across departments and countries;
  • Be able to handle various and frequent challenges with poise, care, and strategic efficacy;
  • Passion for the movement for health as a human right and interest in social justice strongly desirable;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, especially via phone, email, and video conferencing;
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel and PowerPoint in particular), Zoom, and other video conferencing software.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $60,000.00 and $75,000.00/year. The starting salary offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market for the position, job-related knowledge, skills and experience.

Subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable plans then in effect, eligible employees may enroll in a 401(k) plan with employer match, as well as participate in organization-sponsored medical, dental, vision, short-term and long-term disability insurance, and basic life insurance plans for the employee and the employee’s eligible dependents. Full time employees will receive 15 days of vacation, 12 sick days, 3 personal days, and 3 volunteer days in addition to paid time off during the week between Christmas and New Year’s Day, the week of July 4th, and 11 additional holidays annually.
