The Bank for International Settlements (BIS) is hiring a Senior Developer to support our ITS – Digital Products team. The role is based in Basel, Switzerland, however, thanks to our status as an international organization, we can hire globally and welcome applications from candidates of all nationalities located anywhere in the world. Relocation support is available for the successful candidate and their dependent family members. Purpose of the role:As part of the Digital Products team, within the central IT function, you will be involved in developing, maintaining, and supporting Bank’s external facing content management and collaboration platform. You will contribute to range of complex software and data challenges including managing external data, collaboration channels, workflows, and integration with other systems. You will primarily focus on design and implementation of customer facing digital collaboration and content management platform which enhances overall customer experience and satisfaction on the services provided by the Bank. Addition to the technologies, this role requires continuous collaboration; not just among the team but also outward with banking relationship managers, economists, business analysts, technologists, and data scientists– and sometime counterparts in other international organisations and central banks. By joining the team, you will:· join a team of specialists with diverse skills, working collaboratively to coordinate the development, deployment, and maintenance of digital platforms and services intended for customer interaction and engagement. · Play a key role in defining and implementing the strategy for our next generation collaboration platforms. · Benefit from a flexible, hybrid working structure with a blend of working from home and from our centrally located office in Basel. Principal accountabilities:· Design and develop scalable and efficient digital collaboration solutions that meet the evolving needs of the business, ensuring they facilitate effective communication and teamwork. · Integrate collaboration platform with other business systems and tools to create a seamless digital user experience. · Implement intuitive, user-friendly interfaces and experiences for digital collaboration tools, ensuring they are accessible and meet the diverse needs of all users. · Implement robust information management practices and security protocols to protect sensitive information within collaboration platforms in line with Bank’s security standards and best practices. · Develop and implement automated workflows and processes within collaboration tools to streamline operations, improve efficiency, and reduce manual tasks. · Regularly monitor the performance of collaboration platforms, identifying and addressing bottlenecks or issues to ensure high availability and optimal performance. · Remain up-to-date of emerging collaboration technologies and trends. · Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for developed business solutions, including user guides, system architecture, and best practices for using and maintaining the collaboration platforms. · Ensures that the design meets business requirements and that collaborators understand the benefits, drawbacks, risks, costs and time scales of design decisions. · Manages small projects and coordinates activities with team and collaborators. Qualifications, skills, and experience:· In-depth knowledge of SharePoint, with ability to customize and optimize them to meet business needs. Exposure to other digital collaboration tools such as Microsoft Teams, Asana , or similar platforms would be an advantage. · Strong skills in programming and scripting languages relevant to collaboration tools development, such as JavaScript, TypeScript, PowerShell, Python, or C#. · Strong understanding of web development technologies, including HTML, CSS, and modern JavaScript frameworks (React, Angular, Vue.js), to enhance user interfaces and user experiences. · Ability to design intuitive and user-friendly interfaces, ensuring accessibility and effective user interaction with collaboration tools. · Familiarity with database technologies and concepts (SQL, NoSQL) to manage data storage, retrieval, and manipulation within collaboration environments. · Experience with RESTful APIs, webhooks, and other integration techniques for connecting disparate systems and enabling seamless data flow between collaboration tools and other business applications. · Understanding of system architecture principles, including scalability, security, and performance considerations for collaboration solutions · Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to collaborate effectively with team members, stakeholders, and non-technical users. · Ability to produce clear documentation, user guides, and training materials to support the adoption and effective use of collaboration tools by end-users. · Experience with Agile and Scrum methodologies is preferred.
