Princeton University is seeking a Senior Developer/System Administrator with advanced expertise in the ServiceNow Security domain, particularly in Vulnerability Response, Information Risk Management (IRM), and Security Operations (SecOps). This role will be an integral part of the Service Management Office (SMO) within the Office of Information Technology (OIT). The SMO provides leadership and direction to ensure that OIT’s services continually meet customer needs and add value to the University. The senior developer/system administrator will collaborate closely with SMO colleagues, Information Security Office, and OIT stakeholders to comprehend business requirements and leverage the ServiceNow platform to design, develop, and configure solutions that align with the security-focused program needs.
The position will entail maintaining the stability and usability of the ServiceNow platform, including regular application maintenance, incident support, and contributions to ServiceNow software releases, all while adhering to security best practices.
As a senior member of the team, the developer/administrator will provide expert consultation to the SMO support team and ensure the ServiceNow platform aligns with business strategies and governance decisions. They will also be responsible for documenting the platform, conducting impact assessments for new requirements, and establishing controls to ensure the correct technical solutions are implemented for business solutions. Overall, the senior developer/administrator must possess advanced knowledge and skills in the ServiceNow Security domain, as well as a deep understanding of the business strategy and policies governing the ServiceNow platform.
System Development:
- Design and develop new ServiceNow applications and services with a focus on Vulnerability Response, IRM, and SecOps.
- Make recommendations and actively participate in implementing new ServiceNow requirements related to security and compliance.
- Take ownership of complex security-related business requirements and work towards their successful implementation.
- Provide architectural controls and conduct impact analysis for new security-related requirements.
- Continuously identify opportunities for improving security processes and solutions, including the consolidation of similar security needs.
- Collaborate with the team to implement technical best practices, policies, and procedures in the Security domain.
- Contribute to ServiceNow software releases by configuring security-related features and functionality.
- Collaborate effectively with team members to design and implement optimal solutions for security-related technical challenges.
System Architecture:
- Research and stay current with ServiceNow Security products and relevant integrated technologies.
- Create and maintain a detailed view of the ServiceNow architecture, emphasizing security components.
- Align the ServiceNow platform’s security capabilities with established business security strategies.
- Assist with estimating release-level effort, ensuring security-related aspects are considered.
System Administration:
- Optimize the stability and usability of ServiceNow from a security perspective through regular application maintenance.
- Provide day-to-day operational support and timely resolution of security-related tickets and incidents.
Essential Qualifications:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience developing technology solutions (Utah or later versions).
- A minimum of 3 years working as a ServiceNow application developer/system administrator with a focus on security.
- Extensive experience in enterprise security and architecture, including knowledge of various authentication systems.
- Strong background in IT service management with an emphasis on security.
- Advanced knowledge of ServiceNow administration and demonstrated experience in developing ServiceNow applications in the Security domain.
- Experience with database design schemas and data modeling for security purposes.
- Proficiency in working with business analysts to translate security requirements into technical solutions.
- Experience with middleware and discovery technologies for security enhancement.
- Demonstrated expertise with ServiceNow’s incident, change, problem, request, CMDB, and knowledge management applications.
- Expertise in JavaScript and Web Services development languages, particularly in the context of security.
- Proficiency in Windows and Linux system administration, including shell scripting.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- ServiceNow Certified Developer with experience in writing scoped applications for enhanced security.
- Expert knowledge of AngularJS, Bootstrap, HTML, and CSS development languages for designing secure user interfaces.
- Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing ITSM/ITIL software solutions with a strong focus on security.
- Proven ability to integrate ServiceNow with other systems using Web Services and scripting to enhance security measures.
