Job Overview:

The Senior Director, USA Philanthropy (Western Region), will supervise all High Value individual fundraising across the western United States. Reporting to the VP, USA & International Philanthropy, the Senior Director provides strategic leadership, direction, and management to a team of approximately 10 western US-based fundraising staff responsible for securing philanthropic support from high-net-worth individuals. The Senior Director will be an entrepreneurial professional who enjoys leading a team of frontline fundraisers, building donor relationships, collaborating with internal partners as well as Board & Advisor members, and has a track record of closing 7-8 figure gifts. The Senior Director will have significant knowledge of the philanthropic landscape of the western United States, which they will leverage to further refine IRC’s regional fundraising strategy and to identify new opportunities. They will be accountable for the team’s revenue targets as well as managing their own portfolio of prospects and donors. In addition to overseeing the IRC’s USA Philanthropy (USAP) western region, the Senior Director will serve on the USA & International Philanthropy Leadership Team and support the VP in managing a vibrant and expanding global fundraising team.

Major Responsibilities:

• Successfully lead and encourage our USAP (Western Region) team towards increased revenue, expanded donor community, and deeper donor engagement in support of IRC’s mission.

• Supervise, empower, and challenge a team of frontline fundraisers through active coaching and mentorship, and reflect best practices and trends across the Western Region philanthropic landscape.

• Build and implement a comprehensive regional fundraising strategy for the Western Region.

• Develop and support the USAP (Western Region) team’s efforts to cultivate, solicit, and steward a growing portfolio of high-net-worth donors and prospects through personalized communications and face-to-face visits.

• Grow IRC’s donor pipeline in the Western Region through current donor, Board & Advisor, and IRC ambassador networks.

• Work with IRC’s senior leadership, program staff, and relevant colleagues across IRC to build compelling cases for philanthropic investment and engagement opportunities for donors and prospects.

• Partner with the VP, USA & International Philanthropy to develop an ambitious strategic plan, including setting annual goals and key outcomes for the USAP (Western Region) team, and to develop and implement standards, tools and procedures towards a best-in-class approach to individual donor engagement and fundraising.

• Undertake special projects as requested.

• Measure and manage staff performance through Salesforce, dashboards, and other key performance indicators.

Job Requirements:

• 10+ years of progressive non-profit fundraising experience and demonstrated expertise in ultra-high-net-worth individual fundraising.

• 5+ years of experience managing and leading successful, sizable (5+ individuals), and sophisticated front-line fundraising teams.

Preferred Experience & Skills:

• Proven track record of securing 7 and 8+ figure gifts;

• Knowledge of Western U.S. philanthropic landscape and trends

• Excellent oral and written communication skills;

• Ability to interpret a broad vision and translate it into actionable steps to drive projects forward;

• Ability to lead, motivate and develop a high-performing, complex team;

• A high level of energy, self-confidence, initiative, and follow-through;

• Ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as take initiative independently;

• Demonstrated database management skills;

• Excellent organizational and time management skills;

• Ability to multi-task in response to shifting priorities;

• Commitment to respect and maintain confidentiality of donor information;

• Interest in global humanitarian work is preferred.

Working Environment: Requires remote/flex-time work.

Compensation:

Posted pay ranges apply to US-based candidates. Ranges are based on various factors including the labor market, job type, internal equity, and budget. Exact offers are calibrated by work location, individual candidate experience and skills relative to the defined job requirements.
