ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Senior DFV Specialist, you will utilise your expertise to provide comprehensive information, referral, and brokerage services. This will involve conducting thorough risk assessments and utilising available resources to ensure that clients receive the support they need. You will play a crucial role in case coordination, management, and counselling for individuals who have experienced or are currently experiencing domestic and family violence.

In addition to working directly with clients, you will collaborate with other workers and external co-facilitators to provide group work services that support those affected by domestic violence. Building strong relationships with stakeholders and internal DVAC staff will be essential in ensuring that clients receive the appropriate access, eligibility, and support. You will also have the opportunity to actively engage with key government and non-government stakeholders by attending relevant networks and forums.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS

  • Possession of relevant tertiary qualifications in the human services field.
  • Experience and skills in mentorship & leadership.
  • Experience and skills in gender-based violence risk assessment, safety planning, crisis support, domestic and family violence and sexual violence counselling, system advocacy and case management is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of or the ability to acquire understanding of the Domestic & Family Violence Protection Act 2012 and knowledge of court and legislative proceedings as they relate to the Act.
  • Working knowledge of or the ability to acquire understanding of the Child Protection Act 1999 Qld.
  • Current Queensland driver’s license.
  • Current Blue Card (QLD working with children check).
  • All DVAC staff are required to complete a National Police Check upon successful offer of position.
  • Ability to work within the philosophy, objectives and policies of the organisation including: Working within a feminist framework, Working as a member of the staff team & utilising consultative and collaborative processes .
