Job Description

AECOM is seeking a Senior Drainage Engineer to join a dynamic and highly technical Transportation design team in Birmingham, Alabama . As a Senior Drainage Engineer, you will be working with a multi-disciplinary design team to deliver projects for Alabama cities, counties, and the Alabama Department of Transportation. Projects include the hydraulic analysis and drainage design for complex interstate highways, urban and rural roadways, interchanges, design-builds, detention/retention ponds, and permitting. This is a hybrid work option position.

Responsibilities:

  • Will be the go-to technical resource and serve as the technical advisor for drainage designs

  • Will be theTask/Design Lead for transportation design projects

  • Provide valuable drainage technical input to studies and design processes

  • Develop effective study and design procedures to ensure high-quality cost-effective work

  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to review and enhance project deliverables

  • Perform thorough quality control reviews to ensure accurate design calculations and drawings.

  • Prepare comprehensive drainage design specifications for projects

  • Foster strong coordination with with clients, design team partners and sub-consultants, to achieve project objectives

  • Be the SME for drainage related engineering design and methodology

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • BS Engineering Degree in Civil, Environmental, or related field from an accredited school

  • 6 plus years of civil drainage design or related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

Preferred:

  • Professional Engineer (PE) or ability to receive in 6 months

  • Previous drainage design experience on roadway projects including freeways, highways, and local street improvements

  • Stormwater quality treatment systems design and related reports preparation

  • Experience working on ALDOT projects

  • Experience with drainage related software such as GEOPAK Drainage, HY-8, ICPR, and HEC Programs

  • Experience with design software including MicroStation and/or OpenRoads

  • Experience with MS Office software (Excel, Word, Project)

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

The offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position typically is $85,000.00 to $135,000.00.
