THE ROLE
Over the last 30 years, the company’s ecological practice has developed a strong reputation and
proven track record as a leader in the field. The Major Projects Team was established to
provide ecological support to high-value, long-term schemes across the country, including large
infrastructure projects.
As a Senior Ecologist you will spend most of your time on-site ensuring the delivery of
projects are compliant with ecological best practice, wildlife legislation and approved
protected species method statements.
Your regular activities will include:
- Client liaison and project planning.
- Leading a team of ecologists in on site implementation of mitigation schemes.
- Ecological site supervision of contractors.
- Constraints mapping and marking out.
- Leading and completing surveys for multiple species.
- Data collection and reporting.
- Post completion monitoring.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
The successful candidate will be an experienced field ecologist with a passion for delivering
practical ecology. With demonstrable mitigation experience for multiple protected species, they
will hold a minimum of one protected species licence and be working towards others.
With good interpersonal skills, they will have the ability to lead and coach others, and be
able to communicate clearly and confidently with clients, contractors, and their peers.
Working in sometimes dynamic environments, they will be a self-starter, able to adapt to
changing situations and take a pragmatic, solutions-based approach to working with others.
Alongside practical field skills, they will be IT literate and confident in using Microsoft
Office Applications.
A valid CSCS card is desirable.
