An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Ecologist to join Lancashire County Council’s
Environment and Climate team in the Planning and Environment Service. This is a temporary role
to provide maternity cover until April 2025. 

Lancashire County Council is looking for an experienced ecologist, with knowledge of ecological
survey, data analysis, impact assessment and mitigation, who has good communication skills, and
is enthusiastic about protecting wildlife and enhancing the natural environment. Applicants
will be expected to hold a degree level qualification or equivalent, plus experience in a
similar role.

The successful candidate will report to the Principal Ecologist and will be required to provide
ecology advice and professional services for the Council’s infrastructure projects, maintenance
programmes and decision-making processes, to enable the Council to comply with statutory and

The post will be based at County Hall in Preston. However, Lancashire County Council operates a
flexible working policy, which does permit working from home and other locations where the
requirements of the role allow.
