About The Role
Location: Castle Donington, East Midlands / Flexible working
Salary: £35,000 – £43,000 (dependent on skills and experience)
Contract Type: Full time, permanent, 37.5 hours per week

As a Senior Ecologist, you’ll lead and deliver projects to our clients with excellence and
efficiency, all while upholding the highest standards of professional integrity. You’ll play a
pivotal role in independently conducting site surveys, mentoring junior staff, producing
technical reports, and expanding your expertise into exciting new areas like biodiversity net
gain.
Key Responsibilities
- Project management.
- Supporting clients through all project stages.
- Planning and undertaking ecological surveys.
- Liaising and negotiating with statutory agencies and other stakeholders.
- Producing a wide range of technical reports including Preliminary Ecological Appraisal and
Ecological Impact Assessment. - Preparation of fee quotes and tenders.
- Supporting and mentoring junior members of the team.
- Deliver work to a high professional standard and act within the CIEEM Professional Code of
Conduct at all times.
Qualifications & Experience
- Relevant degree in Ecology or related field.
- Minimum 5 years’ relevant experience.
- Strong knowledge of ecology, legislation, and best practice guidelines in England.
- Membership of appropriate professional body (e.g., CIEEM) or willingness to apply.
- Experience in Biodiversity Net Gain and Ecological Impact Assessment (EcIA), or keen to
develop skills in these areas. - Ability to undertake UKHab Surveys independently and/or holding protected species
licence(s). - Interest in project management, client liaison, tendering, and business development
activities. - Hold a full UK driving licence.
- Eligible to work in the UK.
