The Ecology Partnership are a leading independent ecological consultancy based in Leatherhead,
Surrey. We pride ourselves on our friendly, fun and supportive workplace and the high-quality
services we offer to our clients. Due to the companies continued success we are looking for a
Senior Ecologist to join our growing team to assist with our interesting and diverse portfolio
of projects. Our projects range from all sorts of exciting development projects to working with
statutory bodies and biodiversity offsetting providers.

We are looking for a candidate who can assist with project management, overseeing projects from
start to finish, plan and undertake habitat and protected species work whilst supporting the
development of junior staff. We have a particular interest in candidates with good botanical
skills to assist our experienced botanists with our increasing biodiversity net gain and
condition assessment workload. However, as a company we never pigeonhole anyone into a
particular specialism and there will be plenty of variety to the role for any potential
candidate.

The post will offer a balance of field work and office work, with the role covering mainly the
southeast of England, although we do occasionally take on project work further afield (these
are usually because they are interesting!). As a company we try to keep the administrative
workload of our team to a minimum to allow them to focus on undertaking high quality specialist
work. As such we do not have timesheets or overbearing project management systems and prefer
that our team are trusted to efficiently manage their own workload and feel invested as part of
the fabric of our company.

Candidates must have:

  • 4/5 years of experience working in ecological consultancy
  • Extensive experience of producing good quality preliminary ecological appraisals
  • Experience of a wide range of protected species survey and devising effective mitigation
  • Effective project management and client liaison skills
  • A positive attitude and a keen team player
  • A full UK driving licence

Desirable:

  • Good botanical skills, ideally around FISC level 4
  • Experience producing protected species licence applications
  • Experience of EcIAs, EIAs and / or HRAs
  • Competent in QGIS or other similar software packages
  • Hold protected species survey licence/s
  • Existing CIEEM membership.
