Job Description
AECOM is seeking a Senior Engineer (Water Main Design Manager) to be based out of Chicago, Illinois. This is a highly visible role working with critical clients focusing on municipal water/wastewater infrastructure utilities.
Your responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
Manage multiple complex water infrastructure project(s) and acting as an Owner’s Representative as part of a program management team.
Oversee project(s) to ensure all facets are fully coordinated through planning, design, procurement, construction, and closeout.
Manage subconsultants consultants, contractors, and inspectors.
Serve as a project liaison between client personnel, public agencies and other stakeholders for coordination of project activities, including planning, scheduling, and administering overall project status.
May be required to develop presentations and conduct or facilitate presentations to internal and external client team.
Be responsible for: scope, budget and schedule of multiple projects; quality control on all deliverables to the client; efficiently resolving challenging design and/or construction issues with significant financial impact.
Lead project teams to execute multiple projects as required to meet client goals.
Identify and manage potential risks to the client, the program, and AECOM
Mentor and contribute to development of junior staff or cross-train team members with various backgrounds in construction, architecture, and engineering industries.
Interact with all team members including engineers, contractors, superintendents, public agencies, and other stakeholders.
Apply engineering and management principles to develop effective solutions to resolve project related issues.
Candidates must have proven interpersonal skills, including client interaction, public speaking, and persuasive ability; strong project financial management along with ability to lead diverse, multi-disciplined teams.
Apply knowledge of applicable health and safety requirements and knowledge of local government, client, and industry codes, regulations, and standards governing design and construction projects in their respective field for successful delivery of client projects.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree and 6+ years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
Professional Engineering (PE) license in Illinois or the ability to obtain one within first 6 months of employment.

Additional Information
Exempt Position: Offered rate of compensation in Illinois will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $120,000 – $195,000.
