Our analytic solutions bridge content, data, and analytics to help business, people, and society become stronger, more resilient, and sustainable.Job DescriptionAbout the roleAs a Senior Environment Data Analyst within the Data and Analytics team, you will form part of the team responsible for the development and improvement of the company’s core datasets. Your numeracy skills, thematic knowledge of environmental issues, commercial awareness and imagination will help to drive the ongoing evolution and development of the Environment and Climate datasets and maximize their commercial potential. You will have the opportunity to be creative through the development of new datasets, models, and products that deliver environmental risk intelligence to our corporate, investor and insurance clients in line with our data strategy and the global risk landscape. You will be based in London, Bath or Edinburgh and report to the Head of Geospatial Risk Data. We strongly encourage you to write a covering letter as part of your application.About the day-to-day responsibilities of the role:

  • Own the Environmental risk dataset, lead on innovation and take responsibility for delivering updates and improvements.
  • Supporting the update cycle of the company’s global geospatial risk datasets.
  • Ensure data integrity, quality, accuracy and full auditability of data by validating, cross-checking and cleaning the data as needed.
  • Leading by example for more junior colleagues around quantitative skills, attention to detail, quality assurance and commercial awareness.
  • Be a capable and trusted member of the Geospatial Risk Data team that can independently lead innovative projects and deliver timely, accurate results.
  • Conduct analysis and insights into the company’s core datasets and support colleagues and clients with questions, in a clear and concise manner.
  • Working collaboratively with functions across the business, such as Technology, Sales, Marketing and Research teams.

  • Masters level qualification (or equivalent experience) in an environmental subject with a quantitative element (required).
  • Strong domain knowledge in climate change, earth systems, natural hazards, or environment-related field (required).
  • 5+ years of work experience in a quantitative role (required).
  • Experience working in a client-facing role with proven ability to communicate complex information to non-technical audiences (required)
  • Strong numeracy skills, including basic understanding of statistical principles (required).
  • Demonstrate a commitment to data quality and attention to detail (required).
  • Experience of working with large, geospatial, multi-dimensional data (preferred).
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills – able to work with varied teams and articulate complex subjects clearly and concisely to senior stakeholders (required).
  • Confidence in working both independently, showing initiative, and as part of a team in pursuit of shared objectives (required).
  • Technical skills: Advanced Excel skills (required), experience of using geospatial analysis tools e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS (preferred), experience using Python for data analysis including relevant statistics and visualizations libraries (preferred).
