About our opportunity

We are looking for a Senior Environment Officer to join our dedicated Conservation team at Caboolture! 

The Conservation team is a responsible for the day-to-day delivery of Council’s Voluntary Conservation Programs, including Voluntary Conservation Agreements, Land for Wildlife and Bushcare programs.

As Senior Environment Officer, you will develop and deliver a range of environmental restoration projects and activities aimed at protecting and enhancing the region’s natural assets.

In this role, you will engage, manage and maintain relationships with a variety of stakeholders, educating and delivering programs to facilitate ecological enhancement at designated project sites. You will also provide technical advice and assistance regarding native fauna and flora matters and Council’s voluntary conservation programs to residents, community groups and other Council departments. 

As part of this role, you will scope and write grants for environmental related projects and contribute to the project management and acquittal of approved grants.

This role will also be required to undertake regular weekend overtime (bush care).

About you

As an effective communicator, you will have strong interpersonal and communications skills, enabling you to motivate and converse with a range of internal and external stakeholders.

You will have experience in regeneration and revegetation techniques and botanical knowledge of the native plants and weeds within the Moreton Bay Region. As well as knowledge and experience in planning and implementing voluntary conservation programs, completing ecological assessments, delivering grant funded programs and volunteer/landholder ecological restoration projects.

You will enjoy working as part of a team and be comfortable working remotely across our vast region.

Environmental Services Department

This role sits within our Environmental Services department that supports Council and the community to create a healthy, protected and integrated natural environment which people value, engage with and enjoy. This is achieved through the delivery of environmental programs and projects targeted at conservation of the natural environment and protection and enhancement of environmental values.

The department has three management areas – Environment and Conservation; Pest Management and Environmental Centres and Projects, supported by a Business Support unit.
