SENIOR CONSULTANT – JOB SPECIFICATION

Aardvark EM Ltd

Aardvark technical environment consultancy with a 25 year track record of combining our
technical knowledge and innovation with extensive practical and commercial experience.

Aardvark work mainly within the renewable energy and waste sectors, where we provide a range of
services from outline feasibility and design, planning and operational consents through to
implementation and operation support. We have a wide client base, primarily of private sector
developers and operators but also within the research and technology development sectors. We
are independent and impartial to technology, suppliers and policies and work in partnership
with our clients where we aim to practical knowledge, commitment, integrity and innovation to
their projects.

The Role

Primarily in support of our wide existing client base, we have identified significant
opportunities to provide support within our Environmental Permitting team. Under the direction
of our permitting lead consultant, the role would be to take ownership of specific permit cases
– whether these are for submissions of new permits for a wide range of facilities, along with
origination and commissioning of any specialist reports as required. We have strong
relationships with preferred suppliers of these services – for example for air quality
modelling and site condition assessments.

In addition, we often are tasked with negotiating variations to existing permits, advising on
appropriate responses to regulator requests (for example following a CAR report) and providing
practical operational advice and operational support (including acting as TCM in some
circumstances).

Such work will inevitably require a significant interaction with the appropriate UK regulator
(EA, SEPA, NRW & NIEA) and experience of managing their expectations and requirements.

Beyond permit related work, we are keen that consultants will have interests that branch out
into other aspects of our work – including renewable energy; waste and waste water management
and environmental impact assessment. In particular, we are interested in developing skills and
knowledge within the management and mitigation of nutrient discharges.

Ideally consultants will have a relevant environmental science, geography or environmental
engineering degree, be able to demonstrate appropriate technical knowledge in their field, have
excellent presentation and communication skills and the ability to work to deadlines and within
budgetary constraints.

Proven appropriate experience in a professional or regulatory environment, or similar, is
required along with a proven record of working with a range of clients and a record of working
within a successful team environment.
