The position is located in Enterprise Resource Planning Solution Division (ERPSD), in the Department of Management Strategy, Policy and Compliance (DMSPC) in New York. The Senior ERP Analyst (Financial Management) will report to the Principal Programme Management Officer. Responsibilities

Within delegated authority, the Senior ERP Analyst (Financial Management) will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Supports the Organization with continuous improvement of ERP system and supports the strategic planning using results based logical framework, budgeting and service management, sales and distribution and cost allocation and recovery.
  • Provides hands-on team leadership, guidance and process improvement expertise in the area of Financial Management and Services Delivery to drive solution, data conversion, and testing and realization activities; participates in configuration activities using the vendor-specific process model with the integration consultants and assigned financial management subject matter experts.
  • Manages and resolves the Umoja solution risks and issues log and develops mitigation plans. Ensures timely issues identification, resolution, and appropriate escalation to the Change Control Board; works in partnership with the Delivery Team Business Analyst to clarify existing, new or changed business requirements upon request of the business analysts.
  • Identifies key issues in preparing data for conversion and actively contributes to strategies and plans, which coordinate the preparatory efforts of stakeholders; ensures the implementation of data standards and the governance processes affecting data conversion including ensuring timely identification, reporting, tracking and resolution of issues.
  • Organizes, leads and actively participates with subject matter experts and other assigned users in conducting end-to-end integration testing of processes using UN specific data.
  • Assists team leads with developing a training plan in coordination with other UN ERP functional tracks; ensures that training materials are created to fulfil the plan; leads and coordinates training activities for each user group.
  • Coordinates with user groups to bring about business transformation in the areas of Financial Management and Services Delivery with regards to policy; procedures, data management and Umoja solution; provides hands-on support to clients and stakeholders throughout the roll-out period; defines and manages key stakeholder expectations and serves as an effective spokesperson about the ERP Project .

  • Assists on the Umoja Post-upgrade Activities and hypercare.
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams to identify potential risks and implement effective mitigation strategies.
  • Implements new functionalities and features introduced by the upgrade.
  • May perform other duties as required.

Education

  • Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in financial accounting, business administration, or a related field is required. A first-level university degree (Bachelor’s degree or equivalent) in combination with two additional years of relevant work experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. CPA, CA or similar certification in finance is desirable.

Work Experience

  • A minimum of ten years of progressively responsible experience in Financial Management in public or private sector multinationals with supervisory experience of project teams in areas of strategic financial planning, budgeting or management accounting is required.
  • Experience with at least one full life cycle implementation of Funds Management module in a modern ERP environment, upgrade, support, configuration or integration is required. Experience with the United Nations or similar organization’s administrative and financial rules and regulations is required.
  • Progressive experience in financial accounting and accounting operations management is required. Experience working with financial systems or financial modules/functions of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems such as SAP is required.
  • Experience with implementing end-to-end technical planning and implementation roll outs and post upgrade of major ERP System upgrade is required.
  • Experience in applying private sector or public-sector accounting standards such as International Financial Reporting Standard(s) (IFRS) or International Public Sector Accounting Standard (IPSAS) is desirable. Experience in analyzing audit reports, applying financial control and reporting procedures are desirable.

Languages

  • English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position advertised, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of French is desirable. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage.
