About the Role
Join our team and take the lead in coordinating exciting exhibitions, residencies, and programs. As a vital part of the Museums and Collections Department, you’ll spearhead project planning and delivery, ensuring safety and effectiveness. Collaborate with passion to bring a creative vision to life, aligning with Cultural Commons values and contributing to audience engagement. You will work alongside highly talented professionals from the museum and gallery sector, building and strengthening your network and delivering world class exhibition projects.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading project teams to achieve high-quality outcomes for designated exhibitions, residencies, and programs.
  • Providing interdisciplinary and inclusive production and project coordination services for various multidisciplinary exhibitions and initiatives across UoM Museums and Galleries.
  • Coordinating and overseeing expenditures against project budgets, collaborating with Finance and project teams for the timely payment of suppliers, contract staff, and other creative stakeholders.

You will also have:

  • Relevant graduate degree or equivalent education and extensive experience required.
  • Proven success in planning and executing exhibitions and events in museums, galleries, or live performance/festival settings.
  • Extensive expertise in budget planning, management, and evaluation.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication, including the capacity to convey detailed logistical and technical information.
  • Advanced prioritisation skills for planning, coordinating, and completing tasks to meet deadlines.

Your new team – Museums and Collections
Melbourne University’s Museums and Collections Department is a new team, developed to combine the activities of six museums, galleries, and sites across the Parkville and Southbank campuses. M&C manages venues, delivers exhibitions and public programs, cares for collections, and runs a robust commercial and events program. The department has nearly 70 professional staff with backgrounds across the museum and gallery sector and an exciting program that brings our venues to life for student and general public audiences,
