Senior Facilities Coordinator

*Internally, this role is known as Senior Facilities Coordinator (Security)

£35,000- £37,000 + benefits

Hours: Full time 40 hours per week

Location: Stratford, London. Office-based with limited flexibility (4 days per week in the office)

Cancer Research UK’s Properties & Facilities team is essential to the smooth running of our organisation. The team manages the facilities, maintenance, security, facility supplier contracts, office moves and renovations, office leasing and tenant management across our property estates. This consists of hundreds of stores and superstores, 4 distribution hubs, and two head offices across the UK.

As a Senior Facilities Coordinator, you will play an essential role in ensuring our London head office operates smoothly, safely, and efficiently for our staff, tenants, and visitors. This will involve managing the day-to-day security and running of Redman Place, ensuring a safe and productive workspace that supports both daily operations and key events. This will involve overseeing the new starter and induction process, delivering site inductions, supporting the delivery of staff events, and supporting across all areas of the Workplace Facilities functions and services.

This is an exciting opportunity for a Facilities Management professional to upskill and be trained in security processes and systems, while operating in a fast-paced environment with a diverse range of activities. What will I be doing?

Security:

• Managing the day-to-day Security, Access Control, and CCTV at Cancer Research UK’s Stratford head office (Redman Place), and any other relevant sites.
  • This includes monitoring, inspecting, and testing security systems.
• Managing security procedures (including fire warden training, suspect package procedures, and floor walks) to ensure access points are clear.
• Being the first point of contact for the Facilities team, handling all safety and building security matters at Redman Place.
• Leading and delivering ongoing training for site procedures and policies (including CCTV, access control systems, deliveries, and removals).
• Ensuring Cancer Research UK is compliant with all relevant security legislation.
• Ensure the safety of our colleagues by responding to site emergencies.
  • This includes, but is not limited to, assisting a person or persons to safety, deterring a person or persons from entering the premises, or physically escorting a person or persons from the premises.
• Collaborating proactively with the building’s landlord and security team to ensure reception and common areas are safe, secure, and well managed.

New Starters’ Induction:

• Managing Cancer Research UK’s new starter process for Redman Place.
• Issuing security passes, appropriate level access control, and site inductions for new employees.
• Proactively liaising with HR on the new starter process, ensuring all new staff are issued with building guidance and procedures.
• Running building induction tours.
• Collaborating with the Facilities Manager to identify and drive opportunities for improvements to ensure all new starters have a positive early experience.

General:

• Supporting the wider Facilities team to identify and improve operational performance, seeking feedback and identifying opportunities to improve processes and work more efficiently.
• Supporting the Facilities Manager in the coordination of internal staff events in collaboration with internal teams.
  • This includes providing services such as event set-up, catering, and security etc.
• Providing cover and support across all areas of the Workplace Facilities functions and services (e.g., mail, couriers, security, donations, compliance, and soft services).
• Undertaking other tasks as necessary to contribute to the team objectives and those of Cancer Research UK.

What are you looking for?

• Facilities Management background with experience providing a diverse range of facilities management services.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills with the ability to build collaborative internal stakeholder relationships across all levels.
• Highly organised and proactive, with the ability to multitask, meet deadlines, and work independently or as part of a team in fast-paced environments.
• Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive, customer-centric, solutions-focused approach to resolving a diverse range of challenges and adapting to change.
• Good attention to detail with proficiency in using the Microsoft suite.
• Available to work on-site four days a week with the ability to work flexibly with varied start and finish times and in response to emergencies.
• Some knowledge of Health & Safety procedures and security systems would be advantageous.
  • This is desirable, but not essential, meaning we welcome applicants without this experience (training will be provided).
