Summary:
Reporting to the Library Facilities Superintendent, the Charles Library Senior Facilities Specialist coordinates library building operations during evening hours. Responsibilities include oversight of building usage, safety, and maintenance needs. Routinely and regularly patrols the building to enforce building policies and procedures. Inspects rooms, equipment, furniture, and installations to ensure they are in good repair and operational. Keeps the facility organized by performing regular furniture resets according to current floor plans. Provides assistance to Access Services, Learning and Research Services, and Library Technology Services evening desk staff and student workers by assisting patrons with using the library. Assists patrons with audiovisual equipment, troubleshooting and maintenance of automated storage and retrieval system. Liaises with University Facilities Management, Public Safety, and various external contractors, vendors, and delivery persons. Coordinates and supports internal library events, non-library Temple departmental events, and events hosted by groups external to the University taking place after regular business hours in Charles Library. Provides operational support for the Library Depository location as needed. Maintains close, regular communication with relevant daytime staff. Observes and tracks evening user behaviors, issues, and questions, and reports findings to the Library Facilities Superintendent. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience:
At least two years of building operations management experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Required Skills & Abilities:
*Ability to read and interpret furniture floor plans and mechanical drawings.
*Knowledge of common safety procedures.
*Demonstrated ability to analyze situations quickly and objectively, and to make independent decisions accordingly.
*Ability to work independently within a framework of assigned responsibilities under limited supervision.
*Ability to interact and work with a diverse group of students, staff, and faculty, as well as community guests.
*Knowledge of Microsoft windows office products.
Preferred:
*Bachelor’s degree
*Knowledge of base building systems, including, HVAC, electrical, lighting, and water supply systems.
*Safety training certifications (OSHA, etc.)
*Previous event management experience.
*Previous public/customer service experience.
*Experience working in an academic library, museum, or gallery setting.
The hours for this position are 3:00 pm – midnight during the Fall and Spring semesters.
This position is considered essential personnel.
This position requires a background check.
