Position Summary

The Department of Pediatrics is seeking a motivated individual to join our team in a full-time Senior Financial Coordinator position. Columbia University Medical Center???s Department of Pediatrics is a world leader in providing care for children. Our mission areas include Healthcare, Education and Research. This position will support the department by providing support to our Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology & Nutrition by assisting with the financial and operational processes in the Division.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Division Administrator, the Senior Finance Coordinator assists with the financial and operational processes in the Division to capture and increase clinical revenue and ensure that the expenses of the Division are handled promptly with the highest degree of accuracy.

Finance:

  • Responsible for purchase orders and requisitions, invoices, check requests, expense reimbursements, and P-card reconciliation as well as CONCUR.
  • Interacts with vendors and the administrative offices at Columbia, including Purchasing, Accounts Payable and resolves any processing issues with vendors and Columbia central offices in a timely manner. This includes reconciling vendor payments, checking for duplicate payments, and reviewing processed invoices to validate account distribution. 
  • Assists with budgets, including quarterly reporting for Division as well as routing audits.     
  • Monitors all divisional funds, including clinical trial funds.   
  • Creates and maintains spreadsheets and reports related to Divisional funds.   
  • Monitors inventory, and maintains stocks of office supplies and equipment. 
  • Maintains appropriate documentation and organizes financial files to ensure compliance with University and School protocols.

Procedures:

  • Oversee the scheduling of endoscopy procedures; schedules Chief???s procedures and works in coordination with fellow surgical coordinators to arrange combined procedures with faculty. 
  • Serves as backup for when primary procedural scheduler is out of the office.   
  • Manages procedural scheduler.

Prior Authorizations Oversight:

  • In partnership with the Authorization administrator to ensure new and continuing authorizations are completed as quickly as possible so that patients??? medications and formulas are available to them.         
  • Creates new processes with referring physicians and nurse practitioners to streamline authorization requests.

Additional:

  • Troubleshoots on complex questions, and drives issues to resolution. 
  •  Performs related duties & responsibilities as assigned/requested.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor???s degree or equivalent in education and experience required; plus three years of related experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with procedural scheduling.   
  • Experience with systems such as EPIC and CONCUR.
