ACAPS is looking for a Senior Finance Consultant to provide expertise and advice on further development of financial systems and processes with a view to strengthen financial management and sustainable growth of the organisation.

• Duration & contract type: Consultancy – Up to 3 months (until March 2024)

ACAPS is currently hosted as a project under the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC). It has an annual turnover of 9m USD and is funded by more than 10 donors, including the biggest institutional donors, such as BHA, ECHO, FCDO, and GFFO.

Purpose of the position 

The Senior Finance Expert will advise ACAPS on the further development of financial systems and processes with a view to strengthen financial management and sustainable growth of the ACAPS.

The consultant is also expected to advise the ACAPS Finance and Senior Management Team about sustainable financial strategy.

Specific deliverables

• Advice on the 2024 budget structure;
• Support the 2024 plan and budget process;
• Support budget holders in understanding their role.

Critical interfaces

The postholder will work closely with the ACAPS Finance Team, the Senior Management Team, the various budget holders of ACAPS projects and the NRC HQ Global Finance Team.

Professional competencies

• Proven experience (at least 10 years) as finance expert
• Financial experience within the humanitarian sector is a strong asset
• Excellent knowledge of data analysis and forecasting methods
• Proficient in the use of MS Office and financial management software (e.g. SAP)
• Ability to strategize and solve problems
• Strong leadership and organizational skills
• Excellent communication and people skills
• Analytical mind
• Certified Public Accounting (CPA) is a strong advantage
• BSc/BA in Accounting, Finance or relevant field; MSc/MBA is a plus
• Verbal and written English proficiency
