Job Summary Responsible for accounting and related auditing duties. Heavily involved in the month-end and year-end accounting processes and functions as a power user for the financial systems. Responsible for reviewing workflow to evaluate effectiveness, recommending changes to improve productivity, and interacting with staff to analyze existing operational procedures and interpreting how operational effectiveness can be achieved. Performs other functionally related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a financially-related field.
  • Five (5) years progressively responsible experience in accounting/finance, financial analysis, and/or process improvement.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Significant, increasingly responsible accounting experience, to include an understanding of GAAP related to automated accounting systems/data bases, and reporting.
  • Certified Public Account (CPA)
  • Experience with PeopleSoft and nVision. Advanced computer skills, including financial system queries and participation in upgrade testing and system maintenance.
  • Higher education and/or non-profit experience.

  • Skilled in project management, problem-solving, analysis, follow-through, influence and persuasion. Ability to function as systems thinker and be solution minded with a global perspective.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, “Customer Focus” attitude, and ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
  • Ability to work in cooperation with other team members to achieve the Cleveland State University (CSU) goals and objectives.
  • Ability to take ownership of projects, anticipate department needs and develop appropriate responses, meet deadlines, attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and be a quick and continuous learner.
  • Ability to juggle multiple tasks simultaneously and respond to changing circumstances.
  • Skilled with technology, including learning new technology and other database reporting tools.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel (advanced knowledge), Access, Outlook and PowerPoint.
