Building Design Practice is looking to appoint a Senior Fire Engineer who is eager to advance their career within a dynamic and innovative multi-sector practice. This role offers the chance to work as part of a national team of design professionals, delivering fire engineering solutions across a diverse range of sectors, including Cities & Development, Commercial, Energy, Residential, and Transportation.The Senior Fire Engineer RoleAs a Senior Fire Engineer, you will:

  • Work in a variety of sectors from residential buildings to rail transportation and new energy facilities.
  • Manage multiple engineering projects from inception through to delivery, ensuring compliance with fire safety standards and codes.
  • Support project delivery within time and budget constraints.
  • Stay updated with current regulations and legislation.
  • Develop and implement fire engineering solutions, ensuring the delivery of comprehensive fire engineering strategies.
  • Assess fire-related risks in projects, collaborating to mitigate them effectively.
  • Review and comment on the quality of fire safety installations.
  • Undertake tenders for new work.
  • Prepare detailed reports, participate in design team meetings, and liaise with client representatives as needed.

Requirements

  • An engineering degree, preferably in fire engineering, or a postgraduate qualification in fire engineering (other backgrounds considered).
  • Proven track record of successfully delivering fire safety projects, with experience in other sectors considered.
  • Strong experience working with various fire standards, including BS9999, NFPA 130, BS9992, and EN45545.
  • Customer and end-user centric approach, fostering this philosophy within the team.
  • Ability to work towards chartered fire engineer status.
  • Flexible approach to the working environment.
  • Willingness to travel is advantageous.
