The Consulate General of Canada in Denver seeks an energetic, detail-oriented, and reliable team player with a strong interest in international affairs, advocacy, and global commerce to promote, advance, and strengthen Canada-U.S. bilateral political, economic, and security interests within its five-state territory (Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, Utah, and Kansas). Under the general direction of the Consul/Program Manager (Foreign Policy and Diplomacy Service – FPDS), and in accordance with the international priorities of the Government of Canada and its specific objectives in the United States, the incumbent is responsible for conducting outreach, undertaking advocacy, and reporting on key priority issues, among other responsibilities. This includes, but is not limited to, undertaking strategic outreach in our five-state territory; maintaining and expanding contacts in key areas such as government, industry organizations, think tanks, policy institutions, and academia; developing and executing public communications advocacy campaigns; preparing advocacy products and strategic communications materials (speeches, press releases, key messages, social media) for outreach and events; planning and participating in meetings and events related to mission advocacy; research, analysis, and reporting on political and economic developments and regional issues that may affect the Canada-U.S. relationship; and planning and managing high-level visits.
The Senior FPDS Officer will work closely with the FPDS and International Business Development (IBD) teams at the Consulate, the Canadian network of Consulates in the United States, and relevant Government of Canada and provincial departments and agencies to coordinate activities and initiatives. The candidate will demonstrate a strong ability to think innovatively around program delivery; plan effectively in a highly demanding environment; develop and engage a network of external partners; work independently in a proactive, accountable manner; and communicate effectively, including via social media.
Area of Selection:
This selection process is open to applicants legally residing in the Denver region at the time of appointment. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
