We are currently looking for an experienced Senior GIS Officer to lead the GIS component of REACH’s Damage Impact AnalysisLongitudinal Survey workstream. This role involves supporting the assessment and data team in the collection and management of spatial datasets, the development of maps and dashboards for REACH, and ad hoc support to its partners.
REACH Initiative is a unique humanitarian NGO, which provides research, data, and analysis to support more effective humanitarian intervention in crisis contexts. By providing precise and rigorous information on the humanitarian situation of crisis-affected populations in Ukraine, REACH informs better aid delivery and more transparent and reliable decision making. In Ukraine, REACH is hosted by our sister organisation, ACTED.
Present in Ukraine since 2014, REACH has scaled up its activities following the escalation of the conflict in February 2022. REACH is working across the country to provide humanitarian actors with rigorous data and in-depth analysis to ensure aid interventions are timely, appropriate, and relevant. As part of this, the Durable Solutions Unit (DS) informs policy and humanitarian programming on internally displaced people (IDPs) integration in areas of displacement and upon return avoiding protracted displacement. The Durable Solutions team is leading several IMPACT REACH assessments including Collective Sites Monitoring, Area-based assessments, and IDP Profiling, in addition to the Longitudinal Study on Ukrainian Refugees and Returnees. The Longitudinal Survey focuses on people who fled the escalation of hostilities in Ukraine to understand their mobility patterns, integration trajectories, intentions to return, and how these change over time. The Longitudinal Survey sample is divided between refugees, people who are living outside Ukraine following their displacement after the 2022 escalation of the war, and returnees, who returned to Ukraine after a period of displacement abroad.
REACH is seeking an experienced Senior GIS Officer (SGISO) within the Longitudinal Survey sub-unit to ssupport the analysis and output development on the mobility patterns, integration trajectories, and intentions of refugees and returnees over time. The SGISO will lead the development of maps for REACH and support the assessment team in the collection and management of spatial datasets, verification, cleaning, and updating of the collected data. As required, the SGISO will provide support in the development of related dashboards and provide ad hoc support to REACH’s partners.
