Generations For Peace is supporting one of its partners, the Jordan Olympic Committee, in recruiting for the following position:

Jordan Olympic Committee:

  • The Jordan Olympic Committee (JOC) is the governing body for sports in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. Founded in 1957, the JOC became the nurturing body for 34 Olympic and non-Olympic sports federations in the kingdom, laying down the foundation and trail to develop and rise up with the state of sports in Jordan.
  • Careful planning led by HRH Prince Feisal bin Al Hussein enabled the JOC to develop the sports scene in Jordan with both consistency and vision positioning Jordan as a key, medal winning participant in all the major sports events both regionally and internationally .
  • Administrative efforts by the JOC were praised by the international sports community pinpointing Jordan as a healthy and worthy host for numerous Arab, Asian and international sporting events and championships such as the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in 2016.
  • Recognizing Jordan’s efforts in reshaping and bettering the sports scene both regionally and internationally, HRH Prince Feisal Al Hussein, President of the Jordan Olympic Committee (JOC) was elected as a member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in 2010 among other honorary positions.
  • Given the role played and demonstration of the highest levels of commitment to sports betterment, Dr Jacques Rogge, President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) named the Jordan Olympic Committee (JOC) in “the world’s Top 10%” Olympic Committees, cementing the Jordan Olympic Committee and its efforts as a role model raising standards in the sports world and a key player in the future of sports.

  • The Jordan Olympic Committee (JOC) is a non-profit organization that represents the strong, independent voice for Jordanian Olympic Sport and the place for all aspiring athletes to better themselves and grow while representing Jordan all around the world.

1. Purpose of the Position:

The Senior Human Resources Officer contributes to the efficient and effective human resources at JOC, by supporting all related tasks concerning recruitment, relocation, induction, and leave records, welfare and benefits, training and development, Talent management and maintenance of personnel files.

2. Responsibilities:

  • Hold responsibility of full life cycle recruitment for all positions within Jordan and JOC offices.
  • Devise and deliver a planned HR approach to attracting, developing, inspiring, and retaining the right people with the right skills to achieve strategic, high-quality programmatic outcomes.
  • Review and approve job descriptions and make recommendations, ensuring accuracy, consistency.
  • Conduct regular employee orientation sessions and support their personal development needs.
  • Develop and review salary structure; manage annual performance review processes with SMT and other compensation adjustments.
  • Escalate code of conduct issues, lead investigations & ensure issues are resolved, & appropriate follow-up is carried out.
  • Ensure effective communications and conduct regular team building meetings across all departments and support cross departmental relationships and effectiveness.
  • Advise supervisors in determining appropriate disciplinary plans of action in a judicious manner. Follow-up disciplinary measures and related employment law matters.
  • Act as impartial mediator in disciplinary procedures and ensure it is administered in an equitable and fair manner and meets all legal and labor regulations and requirements.
  • Develop and manage staff competency identification and development processes across all positions within JOC.
  • Maintains management guidelines by preparing, updating, and recommending Human Resources policies and procedures.
  • Provide constructive feedback and counsel on career paths and professional development for JOC staff; establish a culture of continuous learning opportunities.
  • Ensures compliance to Human Resources Policies and procedures, such as leave and recruitment procedures by monitoring and implementing applicable Human Resources requirements, conducting investigations, and maintaining Human Resources records.
  • Follow up employee training and development.
  • Interpreting and advising on Jordan employment law for the employee.
  • Initiation of Monthly salaries payroll process.
  • Calculations Social Security and Tax department
  • Maintaining and revising the company’s handbook on policies and procedures.

4. Education, Qualifications, Competences, Skills Required:

Essential:

  • Bachelor’s Degree minimum, in Human Resources Management or Business Administration.
  • At least eight years’ professional experience in Human Resources; of which 4 years of international experience.
  • Strong knowledge of HR international best practices and Jordanian Labor laws.
  • Excellent spoken and written English, and in particular top quality written English communications.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, ability to coordinate Human Resources processes across different departments.
  • Excellent computer skills (documents/spreadsheets/databases/presentations/multi-media/calendars/email).
  • Cultural sensitivity and understanding of different interpretations of communications approaches in different global, regional, and local contexts.
  • Interest in global current affairs, conflict resolution and peace building, and international development.
  • Proven ability to fit into a young, diverse, dynamic team as a team player, leader, mentor, and capacity-builder.

Preferred:

  • Master’s Degree, in Human Resources Management or Business Administration.
  • Experience in an international peace-building organization.
  • Previous INGO experience is preferred
  • Additional HR education and professional certifications will be a plus: PHRI, SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP
