The Opportunity
You will be part of dynamic, fast-paced and international humanitarian team that has a deep commitment to advancing the protection of women and girls in fragile and conflict-affected settings. We are proud of our work in this area, and have a strong track record in delivering locally-led, high quality specialised Gender-Based Violence in Emergencies (GBViE) programming. Trócaire is a member of the GBV Area of Responsibility, the Call to Action on Protection from GBV in Emergencies and the Irish Consortium on GBV.
The Senior Humanitarian Protection Advisor is a key role to drive Trócaire’s work in this area, and is responsible for:
· Providing strategic and technical leadership in driving Trócaire’s Protection of Women and Girls (specialised GBViE) programming, with a particular focus on Trócaire’s Fragile and Conflict-Affected States portfolio.
· Providing high quality technical advice and mentoring to Trócaire and partner staff and ensuring that they have access to the necessary tools, resources and skills to implement programming in line with international best practice.
· Representing the organisation in key GBViE fora, and engaging with donors and other key stakeholders to support systems strengthening at the global level.
· Supporting institutional funding priorities. This includes seeking out funding opportunities, shaping programme development processes, and supporting implementation of protection/GBViE grants at global and country office level.
· Continued organisational learning and strengthening of Trócaire’s Protection of Women and Girls programming.

You will report to the Humanitarian Manager – Technical. As part of your role, you will manage 1 individual, with dotted line management to a second role.
We would love if you have demonstrated experience in delivering survivor-centred Gender-Based Violence in Emergencies programming in line with international standards, and have international experience, including working in fragile or conflict-affected states. We are looking for someone who is passionate about achieving gender equality and transformational change. We work in partnership with local organisations and are committed to supporting locally-led responses, including by women-centered organisations, so experience in this area will be beneficial.
