The Role

As the functional representative of Orange Sky Australia (OS), your primary focus is to lead strategic initiatives aimed at fostering Growth, Performance, Innovation, and Continuous Improvement, while overseeing service delivery. You are accountable for ensuring the effective delivery, optimising performance, and expanding services across both Metropolitan and Regional areas of Australia. Your team collaborates to ensure seamless delivery of support services, meticulous volunteer management, swift incident resolution, targeted growth strategies, and a relentless pursuit of continuous improvements. This is a 12-15 month Fixed Term Contract within the Brisbane HQ office. Reporting directly to the COO, your role is pivotal in translating strategic objectives into actionable plans, ensuring operational excellence, and advancing our mission in community engagement.

In a nutshell this role will:

  • Develop and Lead the end-to-end strategy for the performance management of our services including maximising growth opportunities, asset utilisation, and volunteer leadership performance.
  • Design and deliver on strategic plan objectives and ensure objectives are understood by the team and monitor plans and change accordingly.
  • Leverage the insights from our Friends (users of our service) to lead innovation and drive continuous improvement in our offerings.
  • Lead and mentor the Impact team, including the direct report of a Team Leader overseeing a team of Regional Coordinators, while also creating and nurturing a culture aligned with our Mission, Vision, and Values.
  • Drive sustainable growth and improvement of services across Australia by providing strategic vision to the team, ensuring that growth is both purposeful and sustainable nationwide.
  • Analyse the efficiency & effectiveness of Orange Sky services, including asset utilisation and identify key areas of improvement for execution.
  • Strategically design and implement comprehensive mechanisms to accurately measure, analyse, and continuously improve the performance of our services.
  • Build and maintain effective partnerships with key internal and external stakeholders, including fostering and coordinating national relationships with OSA service providers.
  • Represent OSA at events, conferences and meetings as required.
  • Drive the development and enhancement of operational systems and procedures to continually improve the delivery of programs and services.
  • Lead the impact team at Orange Sky Australia (OS) in leveraging networks for growth, managing stakeholders, networking, and fostering strong relationships internally and externally to drive service delivery and expansion in line with our mission of community impact.
  • Supporting the COO to develop budgets relating to programs and services and managing operations within the budget.
  • Work with the Operations Leadership team to provide excellence in service delivery & customer service management.
  • Proactively engage with diverse communities and identify areas of need and scope for new services.
  • Working in a Service Support capacity (weekends and public holidays on a roster) to address service delivery needs across Australia & New Zealand.

The applicant ideally has experience in a similar role within a fast-paced organisation, ideally within the not-for-profit sector and working with a large volunteer base.  Additionally, the ideal applicant has:  

  • Demonstrated expertise in formulating and executing growth and performance strategies from inception to implementation.
  • Proven leadership track record underscored by a foundational commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Skilled in adeptly navigating challenging conversations with tact and diplomacy to achieve constructive outcomes.
  • Excellence in service delivery and volunteer programs
  • Demonstrated leadership experience with an improvement mindset core to your beliefs.  
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Community Services or a related field, coupled with extensive experience in similar roles within relevant organisations.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to communicate with a highly diverse range of people and manage a diverse workforce  
  • Well-developed written skills, strategic and problem-solving ability  
  • Ability to travel and work flexibly as required 
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to manage complex and competing demands and meet deadlines  
  • Ability to work both independently, and within a team 
  • Proactive attitude, and a genuine passion for our cause.
