Position description

Emergent Risk International (ERI) is seeking to hire a full-time Senior Intelligence Analyst based in London to work in a Global Security Operations Center (GSOC) to be embedded on an annual contract with one of our multinational clients.  The successful candidate will work onsite at our client’s office. This is not a remote position.

About US: ERI is a global risk and security intelligence advisory firm headquartered in Newport, Rhode Island with offices in Austin, Washington DC, Greater Boston, the United Kingdom, Ireland, India, Mexico, Portugal, and Singapore. We support global security, risk management, business continuity and other risk-focused departments of Fortune 500 companies and multi-national organizations. We help our clients assess risk to their organizations; whether that risk emanates from geopolitics, security threats, economic forces or regulatory initiatives that may impact bottom-line revenue or threaten personnel and company assets.

ERI operates five lines of business:

● Assessment and Analysis: We provide our clients daily, subscription-based and bespoke geopolitical and threat intelligence services.

● Training: We train intelligence analysts to serve effectively in corporate environments. Our training focuses on tradecraft and tools that drive more efficient and effective analysis. We offer a range of in-house and open training courses to address specific levels of experience and need.

● Online Platform: We offer a subscription-based online portal that provides a workspace environment for security intelligence analysts, combining ERI’s expert analysis with hundreds of curated datasets and our suite of data visualization tools.

● Consulting: We help companies develop and improve their intelligence programs, providing end-to-end support; from assessing needs and providing analysis to recruiting and hiring highly qualified candidates.

● Embedded Analyst Services: We support our clients with embedded analysts, full- and part-time, short- and long-term. Our embedded analysts work directly for our clients, allowing them the benefit of employing intelligence professionals trained to ERI’s strict standards of competency and continually professionally developed by ERI’s senior leadership, armed with access to ERI’s proprietary tools and deep backbench of in-house subject matter experts.

The Position:

The Senior Intelligence Analyst – London will create a range of intelligence products, backfill for the GSOC manager as needed, and serve as senior intelligence analyst and editor for the team. The analyst should have the ability to write papers, support other team members when they are overwhelmed with regional responsibilities, and otherwise function well in a dynamic team environment, while also working independently on their own individual reporting deliverables.

The right candidate will provide guidance and coaching for junior analysts and ensure the highest quality of intelligence analysis and monitoring for and alerts on security threats that may impact business continuity and/or the safety of a Financial Services industry client’s people, facilities or assets around the globe for a 24/7/365 GSOC.  The ideal candidate will have experience in intelligence and geopolitical risk.

The analyst will be trained on ERI-specific analytic tradecraft, writing and analysis as part of the role. Language skills and business knowledge would be a significant advantage.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop an expert understanding of the client’s business model and asset locations, ensuring that the GSOC’s reporting is tailored to the client’s specific needs.
  • Support GSOC Manager in ensuring operational excellence across the team, including editing team reports, training and coaching of new analysts.
  • Conduct research using open source, vendor tools, and social media to provide analysis on geopolitical and private sector intelligence issues with potential impact to client’s personnel, assets, operations and reputation.
  • Provide well-informed, concise, relevant, high-quality, well written analysis that displays appropriate context and critical thinking to improve security and business outcomes.
  • Understand, interrogate, and visualize high-quality data to draw analytic conclusions and add additional context to analysis and reporting.
  • Track trends and signals of potential short- and long-term concerns.
  • Provides a customer-service oriented approach for the client and department, which may include availability to support incidents outside of normal working hours.
  • Actively foster internal and external relationships to facilitate better information flow and understanding of the needs of the business including working with sector-specific information sharing groups, private-public partnerships, and company employees.
  • Develops and maintains a deep and wide knowledge of OSINT research and monitoring techniques, social media, client databases, sources and archives as well as current subject matter expertise of geopolitical and risk issues in countries where client has facilities, personnel or operations.
  • Develops and maintains internal/external relationships with stakeholders, benchmark partners and intelligence area specialists.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • At least three to five years’ experience as a risk intelligence analyst in a GSOC or equivalent environment, whether having served in the private or public sector, with a demonstrated track record of steadily expanded responsibilities.
  • Bachelor’s degree in intelligence, international relations, business administration, journalism, supply chain security or related field.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills, demonstrable ability to write concise reports suitable for a corporate executive audience.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Excellent critical thinking skills that bolster both analytic work and suitability for serving in a lead client-facing role.
  • Able to meet analytic deadlines and quick-thinking and responsiveness during crisis events.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive data and information.
  • Willingness to work onsite at client office, as role requires regular team collaboration and access to sensitive corporate information.
  • Superior research/OSINT skills.
  • Ability to juggle multiple competing tasks and prioritize accordingly.
  • A strong commitment to ethical private sector intelligence practices and ability to maintain confidentiality around security specific information.
  • Must be able to work flexible schedule as required.
  • Must pass a background check including prior employment and education credentials as well as a pre-employment drug screening, if/as permitted by local law.
