tendersglobal.net

We are seeking a Senior Interpretation Producer – HEI (History, Equity, and
Inclusion)
to join Interpretation within the Communications Team.

This is an exciting time to join Kew, as we are re-examining the way interpretation is
presented across Kew’s landscapes, with a focus on the complexity and authenticity of
storytelling surrounding Kew’s heritage and its role in the creation of the modern world.

We are looking forward to the renovation of the iconic Palm House, the interpretation of key
features in the Kew landscape, such as the Camellia Walk and Rhododendron Dell. We are seeking
the continued enrichment of the stories we tell and the ways we share and co-create them.
Uncovering the stories of different people who contributed to Kew and voices seldom
represented. This is an excellent opportunity to work with a talented team, assessing,
researching, and producing content while delivering interpretation for a myriad of projects
across the Gardens.

This role requires significant experience in researching and verifying complex historical
sources, as well as in writing and producing nuanced content for a range of interpretive
interventions. Therefore, it will suit someone with excellent research and writing skills who
has a detailed understanding of how-to craft content for different channels, audiences, and
reading levels. We are looking for an experienced and passionate public historian or similar
with a significant background in interpretation within a cultural setting.

This position involves making on-site assessments of current interpretation content, curatorial
decisions about the placement of new stories focused on broadening the voices heard within the
garden. Strong judgement, interpretation, research, writing, planning, and communication skills
are essential for success in this role.

The role is based at Kew Gardens, with the option of hybrid working subject to operational
requirements.

The Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew (RBG Kew) is a leading plant science institute, UNESCO World
Heritage Site, and major visitor attraction. Our mission is to understand and protect plants
and fungi for the well-being of people and the future of all life on Earth.

We are working to end the unprecedented extinction crisis and to help create a world where
nature is protected, valued by all and managed sustainably. We will achieve these goals by
drawing on our leading scientific research, unrivalled collections of plants and fungi, global
network of partners, inspirational gardens at Kew and Wakehurst, and our 260 years of history.

Join us on our journey as protectors of the world’s plants and fungi.

The salary for this position is £36,338 per annum (pro rata) [Band D]

Our fantastic benefits package includes opportunities for continuous learning, a generous
annual leave entitlement, flexible working to help you maintain a healthy work-life balance, an
Employee Assistance Programme and other wellbeing support such as cycle to work scheme and
discounted gym membership. We also offer a competitive pension, an employee discount scheme and
free entry into a wide range of national museums and galleries, as well as access to our own
beautiful gardens at Kew and Wakehurst.

We are dedicated to equality of opportunity and welcome applications from all sections of the
community. We are committed to interview disabled applicants who meet the essential criteria
