Senior Investor Engagement Manager, TR Foundation

Our recent acquisition of the Workforce Disclosure Initiative (WDI) – one of the world’s leading corporate disclosure platforms for workforce indicators – has allowed Thomson Reuters Foundation to acquire an ecosystem of more than 150 global companies and 60 investors with $8 trillion under management.
WDI aligns with other global frameworks such the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI), the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), the UN’s Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (UNGPs) and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) The initiative helps companies disclose critical indicators pertaining to their human capital. The data is sold to investors under a subscription model and is then used to inform asset allocations.
We’re looking for an entrepreneurial and growth-oriented Senior Investment Engagement Manager to help us achieve our ambitious plans for the next phase of WDI’s growth. You will play a critical role in engaging some of the world’s leading investors, strengthening our data intelligence, and providing engagement solutions that enable investors to access quality data that can inform decision-making.
You will be responsible for managing the existing investors portfolio and for growing our pool of investor signatories across key countries. You will help identify strategic engagement and feedback mechanisms and will be presenting the work of the programme to internal and external stakeholders.
About the Role:
As our Senior Investor Engagement Manager at the Thomson Reuters Foundation, you will:
- Lead and grow the WDI global investor portfolio, being responsible for investors’ acquisition and stakeholder mapping and engagement. Understand ongoing investors’ strategic priorities to ensure that WDI’s offering remains in line with expectations and continues to innovate in terms of service provision band overall user experience.
- Build and maintain strong and up-to-date pipeline & prospect list of investor signatories, mapping ongoing trends and opportunities to grow the network.
- Design and implement strategies to expand and strengthen the WDI service, ensuring we facilitate the way investors use our data to engage with companies on key issues impacting their business and human capital.
- Remain current on key business and industry developments including changes to financial, accounting, legal, and regulatory requirements.
- Benchmark and track industry peers and trends impacting corporate transparency and accountability.
- Undertake analysis of potential clients to determine those which will deliver the greatest potential value whilst retaining and enhancing the value of existing clients.
- Represent TRF and WDI at industry conferences to network, acquire sector knowledge, build new leads, and sustain investor relationships.
- Track and report on progress against WDI’s annual targets, deliverables, and activities, including by working with the inclusive economies team to coordinate updates to the board, quarterly reports, etc.
- Develop a thorough understanding of WDI’s operating models and an appreciation for what drives our investors service requirements.
- Build and maintain relationships across various stakeholders both at the investor level and within internal TRF teams.
- Work with senior TRF stakeholders and input on pitches, proposals, product innovation and stewardship plans.
About You
To be our Senior Investor Engagement Manager, you will likely have:
- Demonstrable experience of engaging investors within a financial services environment.
- An understanding of corporate ESG reporting and data standards with knowledge of the Social aspect of ESG.
- Demonstrable capability of originating new business and closing deals
- Proven experience in client relationship management.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with a proven track record of being client-focused and delivering outstanding client service.
- Experience designing tailored pitches and presentations to a variety of senior commercial stakeholders and articulating social impact in a commercial context.
- Ability to develop regional strategy and manage multiple high-level projects consecutively.
- Proven organisational abilities and experience of managing competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- An exceptional communicator with strong writing skills and extensive public speaking experience.
- Experience using and managing information in databases (Salesforce etc)
