Information and Technology Solutions (ITS) enables the WBG to achieve its mission of ending extreme poverty and promote shared prosperity in a sustainable way by delivering transformative information and technologies to its staff working in over 150 locations.

Our vision is to transform how the Bank Group accomplishes its mission through information and technology. In this fast-paced, ever-changing world, the formulation and implementation of the ITS strategy is an ongoing, iterative process of learning and adaptation developed through extensive consultations with business partners throughout the World Bank Group.

ITS shapes its strategy in response to changing business priorities and leverages new technologies to achieve three high-level business outcomes: business enablement, by providing Bank Group units with innovative digital tools and technologies to transform how they deliver value for their clients; empowerment & effectiveness, by ensuring that all Bank Group staff are connected, able to find information, and productive to accelerate the delivery of development solutions globally; and resilience, by equipping the Bank Group to provide risk-based cybersecurity and robust data protection for a global network and a growing cloud platform.

Implementation of the strategy is guided by three core principles. The first is to deliver solutions for business partners that are customer-centric, innovative, and transformative. The second is to provide the Bank Group with value for money with selective and standard technologies. The third principle is to excel at the basics by providing a high performing, robust, and resilient IT environment for the organization.

ITSGC Department Context

The Global Telecoms & Client Services (ITSGC) department within ITS provides global communications and client services, products, and support for all member organizations across the World Bank Group. Services provided by ITSGC include global network, unified communications (Telephony and Videoconferencing), end-user device and mobility service provisioning, IT support (Helpdesk, front-line IT support and IT training), rapid application delivery services for the entire World Bank Group, as well as coordination and implementation of all infrastructure projects facing World Bank Group country offices.

Position Overview:

This position is part of the ITS Unified Communications (ITSCU) unit under ITSGC. The Senior AV/VC Solutions Architect will be responsible for the modernization of the World Bank’s AV/VC technology landscape by providing strategic technology evaluations, collaboratively determining the technical AV/VC architecture and infrastructure designs, and keeping up to date with industry trends, technologies, and best practices in AV/VC engineering. This includes digital signage, streaming services, video interoperability, “fit for purpose” built solutions for special event spaces (i.e., boardrooms and auditoriums), and interactive hybrid meeting solutions. The ideal candidate will be a seasoned engineer with strong technical background in AV/VC technology, excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to influence peers and stakeholders.

Duties and Responsibilities:

•Oversee the design and implementation of enterprise grade, scalable, highly available, and fault-tolerant AV/VC systems by providing technical and thought leadership.

•Technical expert and key resource in the area of audio, video, and collaboration technology solutions.

•Serve as the in-house expert for determining the future state of the World Bank’s AV/VC echo system with hands-on experience in Cisco, Tandberg, or Polycom video technology and WebEx

•Collaboration with stakeholders (peers, project managers, clients, vendors, etc.) to determine designs, implementation plans, and technical specifications.

•Budget management including capex coordination and reporting on spend plans

•Partner with peers and business team leaders in the identification of business solutions consistent with best practices for cross-functional implementation.

•Discover, incubate, and implement novel solutions, by encouraging and collaborating with other teams.

•Seizes opportunities in changing circumstances and energizes others to continuously improve.

•Work with various stakeholders, including a proven record to reach consensus in challenging situations

Selection Criteria

 

•Master’s degree in engineering or related field, with a minimum of 8 years’ relevant experience in AV/VC Solutions or Telecommunications OR equivalent combination of education and experience.

•CCNA Video, Cisco Video Network Specialist, Cisco Training certificate, Cisco Telepresence- Implementing Advanced Telepresence Video Solution, or related certifications preferred.

AV/VC Technical Skills and Experience:

•Industry knowledge to lead evaluation of new AV/VC systems with experience in proposing technology investments supported by a thorough technical analysis and business case development.

•Proven record of leading the implementation of complex AV/VC spaces such as auditoriums, boardrooms, and multi-purpose conference centers.

•Expert level knowledge of the fundamental concepts of videoconferencing technology Hands-on experience on Cisco VCS/Expressway and CMS.

•Deep knowledge of videoconferencing protocols such as H.323, SIP and audio / video standards and strong technical skills in signal flow, audio and video processing protocols

•Good understanding of relationship between IT Infrastructure assets like Application, Network and Servers.

•Industry knowledge of simul/multi-cast video streaming, digital signage, simultaneous interpretation for large enterprises and international institutions.
