The mission of the “Know-Your-Customer” (KYC) team within the Front Office (as first line of defence “1st LoD”) is to identify, assess, manage and monitor any risks of money laundering, terrorist financing and sanctions/tax evasion that EIF may face in its equity and debt business operations while applying a risk-based approach in line with the requirements of the EIB Group AML-CFT Policy.

Operating network:

You will report to the KYC Head of Unit who in turn reports to the Head of KYC/TAX/ESG Division within the Central Front Office Services Department of the Chief Investment Office.

Working in the KYC team as part of the Front Office, you will contribute to the development of the KYC team’s goals by notably being a point of contact across the institution and external counterparts (e.g. fund managers, banks and other financial intermediaries) in relation to KYC matters. The job requires a close interface with colleagues both in Front Office and in other departments within EIF, including Compliance (as second line of defence). Furthermore, you will closely interact with other KYC and Front Office units within the EIB Group to ensure the application of a consistent AML-KYC Group approach.

Responsibilities:

At a level commensurate with your experience and seniority, you will:

  • Ensure as a subject matter expert the timely and accurate collection and input of the relevant KYC information and documentation as well as the assessment and grading of the AML-CFT risks related to EIF equity and debt transactions;
  • Establish efficient channels of communication with relevant financial intermediaries as part of the AML-CFT risk assessment process;
  • Timely and comprehensive performance of KYC Periodic Reviews for existing counterparties in line with required standards and frequency;
  • Contribute to the development of an information system appropriate for the purposes of maintaining up-to-date information in the context of KYC measures and controls;
  • Advise on – and contribute to – the appropriate implementation of the EIF AML-CFT and KYC Procedures and promote innovation and improvements when necessary; and
  • Coordinate all operational aspects related to the 1st LoD AML-CFT risk assessment.
Qualifications:
  • At least three (3) years of post-graduation (after having obtained your initial university diploma) relevant professional experience at same level responsibility in asset management, banking, finance, legal or corporate advisory in the Compliance / KYC domain or other areas relevant for the role;
  • University degree in Economics, Business Administration, Finance or Law (preferably at postgraduate level) with a combination of the above being an additional asset;
  • Good knowledge of regulatory requirements, especially with relation to AML-KYC in a 1st or 2nd LoD role;
  • Any – or combination – of the following will be an advantage:
  • Proven experience in external communication with clients and managing flows of legal and regulatory documentation; Strong quantitative skills (ability to manage and analyse data e.g. with Excel). Knowledge of additional AML-CFT data management or screening applications;
  • Prior experience in banking/asset management and/or familiarity with equity investments (private equity or venture capital) and/or loan portfolio guarantees;
  • Participation in 3 lines of defence projects and/or having previously performed qualitative assessments of ML-FT risk for new counterparties.
  • Good understanding of the EIF mission and activities as well as the institutional framework in which the EIF operates; and
  • Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English. Knowledge of other EU languages would be considered an advantage.
