About You
This is a fantastic opportunity for a practicing lawyer with an understanding of migration law to join SSI’s Legal Entity.
You will play a pivotal role in providing immigration casework and consultancy, which includes client consultations and provision of strategic/practical immigration advice across a broad range of migration matters including but not limited to General Skilled Migration, Employer Sponsored Migration, Business Migration, Family Migration, Refugee and Special Humanitarian Program, Student visa program, Visitors visa program, Tribunal Review applications, Judicial Review applications.
In this critical, high impact and high visibility role for SSI, you will work closely with the team of lawyers, practice manager, staff and the Head of Commercial and Strategic Ventures ensuring impactful engagement across the internal and external landscape.
You will be someone with who has a strong understanding of migration law and is able to communicate, advocate and negotiate equitable/strategic outcomes for clients with DHA, relevant Federal/State government authorities, employers, medical practitioners, law enforcement agencies and other relevant external organisations/stakeholders.

Essential Criteria
- Minimum 2 – 4 years of Post Admission Experience.
- Strong customer focused orientation
- High level interpersonal skills, including effective written and oral communication, ability to exercise discretion and sound judgment, in order to liaise with all stakeholders including members of the legal profession, members of the public, and staff at all levels; ·
- Advanced organisational and leadership skills, including the ability to prioritise work and meet deadlines within short time frames with minimum supervision
- Ability to understand and maintain client confidentiality and sensitivity to legal, political and other issues
- Initiative and demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team to achieve/lead targets/ results
- Extensive knowledge and ability to use computer systems and databases, including proficiency in use of MS office software, Legendcom, Migration Manager and other migration legislation databases
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to juggle competing demands
Desirable Criteria
- Understanding of legal (and/or migration law) proceedings
- Understanding of, and commitment to addressing social justice and equity principles
