About This Opportunity
The Principal Specialty Supervisor in GP will lead and facilitate the provision of high-quality clinical education in General Practice within the Hervey Bay Regional Clinical Unit (HBRCU) and across the Wide Bay Learning Community, where appropriate. The Principal Specialty Supervisor will collaborate with the relevant Mayne Academy of General Practice and Academy for Medical Education, support the integration of learning across all four years of the program as well as lead the engagement with community care clinicians.
The Principal Specialty Supervisor will be highly visible in the community care environment and have a proven academic track record within their specialty. They may also have supervisory responsibility of an Educational Registrar roles.
This position reports to the Head, Hervey Bay Regional Clinical Unit with functional oversight from the Head, Mayne Academy of GP
Key responsibilities will include:
Teaching: Be an effective and professional role model and contribute to a positive student experience.
Provide specialty specific leadership to the provision of, high-quality learning experiences and assessment to support the development of clinical knowledge and skills as well as students’ professional identity.
Monitor and continually improve the quality of learning and assessment within the Clinical Unit to ensure students have a positive learning experience and the opportunity to meet the learning outcomes.
Research: Contribute to building the HBRCU and the UQ Rural Clinical School’s (RCS) research capacity by encouraging students and clinical staff to undertake research and scholarship of teaching and learning.
Citizenship and Service: Consistently demonstrate behaviours that align to the UQ values.

This is a part-time (20%), fixed-term position through to 31st December 2024. At Academic level C. The full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range at level C.
The full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $128,109 – $147,717, plus a generous super allowance of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be up to $149,888 – $172, 830 annually.
As this role is covered by an Enterprise Agreement, you will also receive regular remuneration increases – at least once a year.

About You
Medical qualification and eligibility for registration as a medical practitioner in Australia, with a specialist qualification recognised by Royal Australian College of General Practitioners or Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine.
PhD or equivalent in the disciplinary area, or an appropriate combination of professional and academic service relevant to General Practice.
An established profile in clinical teaching and/or clinical research in the discipline area.
Evidence of a substantial contribution to quality clinical teaching at undergraduate postgraduate and/or professional entry level.
Expert discipline knowledge and extensive experience in a general or specialist capacity, including evidence of dissemination and adoption of new and innovative clinical techniques.
Active participation in the development and continuous innovation of programs, curricula and/or course material in the discipline area.
Record of supervision of HDR students and/or trainees in speciality training programs.
Ability to establish effective relationships and to represent and promote the RCU and RCS within health care facilities, at a university level and in the wider community including professional bodies.
A commitment to and an understanding of the issues surrounding, living and working in a rural and/or regional area.

Mandatory Immunisations: It is a condition of employment for this role that you will be required to provide evidence of immunisation against certain vaccine preventable diseases.
APHRA Registration: It is a requirement of this position that the incumbent holds and maintains full APRHA registration.
