The combined staff in UCL LCCOS totals around 440.About the roleThe Joint Library of Ophthalmology is a shared resource between Moorfields Eye Hospital, a world-class centre for eye health services, ophthalmic research and education since 1804; and the UCL Institute of Ophthalmology, one of a number of specialised biomedical research centres within UCL.The Joint Library of Ophthalmology supports their academic and clinical endeavour through access to extensive resources in ophthalmology and vision sciences, modern learning spaces, innovative services and expert staff.The post holder is a member of a team of four, providing high quality information services to all members of the Library, contributing to the day-to-day running and delivery of front line services. The main duties of the post include answering enquiries, providing library inductions, delivering information skills training, and assisting in carrying out mediated literature searches, following appropriate training.This role is an open-ended contract; working days Wednesday PM; Thursday – Friday.The salary for this 0.5fte role is £17,815 per annum including London Allowance.This is an on-campus role. It is not suitable for regular remote working.This role does not meet the eligibility requirements for a Skilled Worker Visa certificate of sponsorship under UK Visas and Immigration legislation. Therefore, UCL will not be able to sponsor individuals who require right to work in the UK to carry out this role.This appointment is subject to UCL Terms and Conditions of Service for Research and Professional Services Staff.   • Education to degree level
  • Experience of working in a library/information environment, delivering a high level of customer service, with a sound knowledge of library procedures
  • Experience of answering library enquiries, both face-to-face, over the phone and electronically, using a range of resources
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills, ability to manage a varied workload, meet deadlines and work accurately with attention to detail.
