About this opportunity:

This newly created Senior Management role will provide leadership, program direction and overall management of several community programs that focus on intersectional integration and opportunities to develop improved responses to community needs.

Responsible for planning and program support to a multidisciplinary team of clinical managers and programs, the role works in an integrated and coordinated manner with each of the AOD service streams to ensure effective and high-quality service delivery.

We are looking for someone with experience in managing people, with a commitment to inclusive and integrated practice, collaboration and who people enjoy working with.

Duties include but are not limited to…

  • Identify, trial, and implement new evidence-based programs and develop improved responses to community needs.
  • Maintain awareness of regional trends, developments, and sector changes to identify and address the need for change, and to explore new opportunities for development.
  • Ensure high quality, evidence-based treatment services are developed, promoted, delivered, and reviewed in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Identify and propose new program opportunities consistent with the organisation’s stated philosophies to contribute to the ongoing operation of the agency.
  • Identify and support research projects that enhance the development and provision of services.
  • Provide coaching, support, advice, and guidance to managers.
  • Provide professional development opportunities and contribute to the work of the managers flexibly responding to needs and giving and receiving support and constructive feedback.
  • Implement and monitor systems to ensure high quality, consistent clinical practice across service types, locations, and service partners.
  • Develop and maintain collaborative and productive relationships and communication with all key internal and external stakeholders, including relevant government departments.

Key Selection Criteria:

We are looking for an experienced and individual to join our wider OHV leadership team and contribute to the strategic direction of the organisation.

To be successful in this role, you must have:

  1. Relevant health and or welfare Tertiary Qualification such as Social Work, Psychology, Nursing or Allied Health Sciences.
  2. Tertiary qualifications in management or a related discipline are preferred.
  3. Certificate IV in AOD or have completed the required competencies in dual diagnosis (or able to complete within the first 12 months of employment). *Note: refer to Appendix A for details on competencies
  4. Demonstrated experience in a Clinical leadership position in a community health service setting, preferably in the AOD or mental health sector.
  5. Proven ability to effectively manage and provide professional supervision to multi-disciplinary teams across multiple sites and the ability to develop and maintain a cohesive focus on organisation objectives.
  6. Proven ability for responsibility of clinical governance and leadership.
  7. Proven ability to set and achieve objectives and the ability to undertake forward planning and manage planning implementation.
  8. Demonstrated experience monitoring data and managing resources to deliver on targets/key performance indicators.
  9. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective and collaborative relationships with a range of key stakeholders.
  10. Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate, mediate and negotiate (including the ability to resolve conflict and solve problems) with a range of people.
  11. Proven ability to effectively manage financial resources maximising on opportunities without comprising client care.
  12. Able to demonstrate high levels of initiative and the ability to work effectively with limited or no direction.
  13. Demonstrated ability in program development, implementation, management and evaluation and the development of policy.
  14. Ability to prepare correspondence, written reports, and statistical data within established timeframes.
  15. Able to input into new funding tenders or demonstrated experience in securing new business and supporting funding submissions.
  16. Current knowledge of OH&S practices.

Appendix A (AOD Competencies)

OHV requires staff in clinical positions to have the following competencies (or their equivalent). Where people do not already have these competencies, OHV will invest in the staff’s professional development by providing them through our registered training organisation (RTO).

The competencies required in the first 12 months of employment are:

  • CHCAOD001 – Work in an alcohol and other drugs context
  • CHCAOD004 – Assess needs of clients with alcohol and other drugs issues
  • CHCAOD006 – Provide interventions for people with alcohol and other drugs issues
  • CHCAOD009 – Develop and review individual alcohol and other drugs treatment plans
