About This Opportunity  

We are seeking a Senior Manager, Engagement and Communication. This position oversees a busy and diverse team of engagement and communication professionals, and provides high-level communication support, intelligence and analytical data to aid the development and delivery of UQ’s global and entrepreneurship strategies.

This position ensures UQ’s global reputation and international engagement is showcased internally and externally, predominantly through briefing materials, speeches and presentations, news articles, and digital and print collateral. In addition to managing data, communication and marketing, the role provides oversight of high-level international visits to UQ and/or with UQ’s senior executive leadership team and assists in coordinating Senior Executive Missions and a range of off-shore and on-shore engagement events.

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Manage the development and delivery of external communication that showcase the impact of UQ’s engagement globally and with strategic partners. This includes management of GP and Ventures websites, email marketing campaigns, event marketing and promotion, speeches and presentations, high-level correspondence, capability statements, and publications and brochures.

  • Manage the development and delivery of internal communication to promote GP initiatives and events, and to encourage collaboration across research and teaching and learning. This includes management of unit-level and UQ-wide reports and the development of intelligence and engagement briefing materials to support senior executive meetings and international engagement activities.

  • Provide data, analyses and reporting to support the development of partnership strategies and briefing materials, and as required for external and internal communication.

  • Oversee the GP International Visits and Events team, assisting in the management of inbound visits, external events, Senior Executive Missions, and additional executive travel.

  • Manage and prioritise the workload of the Intelligence and Engagement team.

  • Manage staff reviews, performances appraisal and staff development.

This is a Full-time, Fixed term position for up to 12 months.  At HEW Level 9, the full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range of $124,996.74 to $132,185.85 plus a generous super allowance of 17% superannuation. The total FTE package will be in the range $146,46.19 to $154,357.06 per annum.  

About You

  • A postgraduate degree (or progress towards a postgraduate qualification) and extensive relevant experience. Qualifications in professional communication is preferred, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or training in international relations or business development within the context of international higher education.

  • Demonstrated skills in professional writing, editing and publishing, with experience in a corporate communication environment.

  • Experience in the development and implementation of external communication and engagement campaigns, including the coordination of marketing collateral and events logistics.

  • Demonstrated ability to analyse and communicate complex data, with experience in presenting results, interpreting trends, and data visualisation.

  • Highly developed interpersonal skills including demonstrated capacity to lead and manage a team in a deadline-driven environment, and to liaise with a wide range of staff and stakeholders.

  • Excellent planning and organisational skills, including a demonstrated ability to multi-task, establish work priorities, meet timelines, and maintain attention to detail in a busy, deadline-driven environment.

  • High-level computer competency, including the ability to use data warehousing and visualisation software (such as SAP Business Objects); the Microsoft Office Suite (particularly Office, Excel and Powerpoint); and the Adobe Creative Suite (particularly InDesign).

Desirable

  • Experience in the higher education sector, ideally within international education and/or entrepreneurship.

  • Experience using Drupal, WordPress or similar content management systems.

  • Experience using email marketing platforms (e.g.: Vision6).
