Position description
Cigna International Health seeks a dynamic International Public Affairs Senior Manager, based in Europe reporting to the Head of International Public Policy in Washington DC. The candidate will be accountable for proactively engaging and building relationships with political decision makers within International Governmental Organizations (IGOs), Non-Governmental Organisation (NGOs), Governmental bodies and Embassies with a focus on improving Cigna International Health’s reputation as a trusted source on health and vitality.
Working as part of Cigna Healthcare’s broader Government Affairs team, the role holder will be responsible for developing and maintaining effective working relationships with a range of stakeholders, including senior management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Stakeholder mapping to establish and define a robust network with respect to relevant health policy and care-related topics within IGOs, NGOs, Governmental clients and Embassies;
- Support the development and execution of a public affairs engagement strategy with IGOs, NGOs and Governmental clients/Embassies, with an initial focus on Brussels, The Hague, Geneva, Rome, and Vienna;
- Carry out in-depth strategic monitoring of the IGOs, NGOs policies, initiatives, and projects likely to influence their activities;
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with political decision-makers, associations, and other important partners;
- Identify thought leadership opportunities for senior management with influencers such as academic, philanthropic and industry organisations;
- Maximize political opportunities and positioning for Cigna Healthcare to serve as a trusted advisor and a solutions-driven corporate partner within IGOs and government bodies;
- Actively represent the company at associations, events, conferences and meetings to reinforce our visibility and positioning on fundamental health policy issues;
- Leverage cross-enterprise collaboration and assure alignment with The Cigna Group enterprise public affairs priorities.
Qualifications
- Minimum 8 years of experience in European government relations, public affairs, or similar roles;
- Bachelor’s degree, master’s degree preferred;
- Demonstrated track record of building and managing stakeholder relationships and confidence in engaging stakeholders in government, business, and civil society;
- Previous experience operating and influencing across regions in a global multi-cultural work context preferred;
- Ability to anticipate and take initiatives;
- Thoroughness and organisational skills;
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to adapt your style (written and verbal) to any audience from technical experts, politicians or the wider public;
- You demonstrate a track record of building and managing stakeholder relationships and coalitions and you are confident engaging stakeholders in government, business, and civil society;
- Fluent English; additional languages would be an advantage.
