Position Overview
The Senior Manager of Development, Institutional Giving will
primarily manage the NYIC’s foundation, government and corporate
giving programs. Under the supervision of the Senior Director of
Development, the Senior Manager of Development, Institutional
Giving will oversee a significant piece of the Development team’s
institutional portfolio and play a primary role in helping to
cultivate existing organizational funding opportunities and
identifying new prospects. Additionally, they will provide
strategic direction and guidance throughout the year to meet
ambitious fundraising goals.
Key Responsibilities

Develop and maintain a robust
understanding of the NYIC’s policy and advocacy work, its programs,
and how various grants and partnerships align with that
work.
Generate new and compelling copy and
revise existing copy, for foundation grant proposals and reports
including: general operating support, federal advocacy, capacity
building, multi-year strategy, regional work, civics, education,
health policy and special projects.
Liaise with the NYIC’s program,
communications, and finance staff to ensure clear internal
communication around deliverables and reporting
requirements.
Serve as an ambassador of the
organization with funders and outside partners.
Manage performance, guide
professional development, and provide feedback for two Development
Associates. Ensure they are efficiently and effectively preparing
funding proposals, reports and contracts within their portfolio and
that all deadlines are met.
Lead efforts to deepen the
Development team’s knowledge and understanding of the NYIC’s work,
by managing regular interdepartmental check-ins and proactively
requesting data and stories to illustrate our impact and gain
insights into the challenges faced by staff, member organizations,
and immigrant communities.
Manage, refine and upkeep systems to
support the overall fundraising goals of the team.
Collaborate with the Manager of
Development, Individuals and Events to build a corporate engagement
plan, prospect corporate leads for stewardship, and grow corporate
revenue.
Perform similar duties for NYIC
Action, including but not limited to: strategy, prospect and
campaign narrative development, and project management of our C4
Asana.
Support additional Development tasks
as needed.
Qualities Sought
-
4-5 years of professional experience
in development.
Demonstrated track record as a
successful development professional with knowledge of all aspects
of fundraising, especially institutional giving.
Excellent interpersonal skills and
communication skills both written and verbal
Exceptional grant writing/reporting
skills
Knowledge of government grants and
experience writing and managing government applications,
preferred
Ability to work in a diverse team as
well as lead independent projects, and maintain good working
relationships at all levels of the organization
Ability to synthesize information
while maintaining attention to detail.
Strong project management and
organizational skills, ability to prioritize projects and follow
through on detail with high-level accuracy.
Experience with database management
is required; experience with Salesforce a plus.
Strong time management skills and
prioritization.
Ability to work under pressure to
meet strict deadlines in an autonomous yet collaborative
environment.
Excellent command of the English
language.
Knowledge of/passion for migration
and/or human rights: prior experience with issues facing migrants
in the U.S. preferred.
Important facts to know about this
opportunity:
- This position is mostly on-site, with a requirement of being in
the office 4 days per week and remote 1 day per week. - The NYIC staff continues to mask while in the office.
- The NYIC has a staff-wide vaccine mandate. Staff must be fully
vaccinated and provide proof of vaccination to HR before being
onboarded
Salary: $74,100**
In addition to a competitive salary, NYIC offers a full benefit

**The NYIC has a transparent and equitable salary
structure. Starting salaries for each position are set in advance
with no room for negotiation.
