About the role
The Senior Manager for Risk and Safety is a key leadership role responsible for stewarding the Risk, WHS and Compliance Functions across all areas of the organisation.
The role will lead the development, implementation, monitoring and ongoing improvement of cohealth’s Risk and WHS Management Systems to deliver practices, policies and standards to support the diverse and growing needs of cohealth.

Your duties include:
- Oversee the management and monitoring of cohealths current WHS, Risk and Compliance systems including implementation of enhancements to improve these systems
- Lead the design of contemporary Risk and WHS Management Strategies that considers industry best practice to ensure cohealths systems meet legislative requirements and enhance organisational outcomes.
- Provide expert advice regarding risk, including building capability across the organisation to identify, assess and document organisation wide and program risks and associated internal controls.
- Manage a small team responsible for building systems to support leaders to manage uncertainty, identify hazards and drive the development of a curious risk and safety culture.

Our ideal candidate
- Formal Qualifications in Risk management and Occupational Health and Safety
- 3-5 years’ experience in a similar role ideally within a Health Care or Social Service setting
- Applied operational risk management experience including the development and/or use of risk management tools
- Working knowledge of the ISO standards, 45001 Occupational Health and Safety management System and 31000 Risk Management
- Change management expertise, with the ability to drive organisational transformation and manage resistance to change
All appointments are made subject to a satisfactory Police Check, a Working with Children Check (WWCC), complete a Statutory Declaration, evidence of legal rights to work in Australia, and evidence of vaccination against COVID-19 (3 doses). Additionally, some roles will also require current AHPRA registration and/or NDIS Worker Screening Clearance.
Roles that are determined to be Risk Category A or B [staff that have direct and/or indirect contact with body substances and are at higher risk of occupational exposure to infections] will be required to provide evidence of immunisation assessment including Influenza prior to commencement [A] or within 12 weeks of commencement [B]. This is in accordance with the Victorian Minister of Health Mandatory Vaccination Orders for COVID-19 and legislated requirement for influenza vaccination.
